The TV has been doing this for some time. When it first started after the TV

was on a little bit the pic. would fit the screen. Now it just stays to big for the screen. Not able to watch anything.

Basically the same problem. The picture is too big for the screen. People's heads are cut off at the top. For the news, we see torsos talking to one another. Subtitles can't be seen at the bottom. Contrary to the first solution suggested [actually it is just a question, not a solution] --There is no option on the menu that I can find that offers a different configuration like "stretched." or anything. I am not sure what the point is of this site -- to commiserate with other users? I was hoping to find someone from the company who knows what is going on with their products and who could help. If there is, the help and information would be appreciated.

I bought this TV because of the name, I will never buy another one. The picture is too big for the screen. It must be a manufactererer defect. Curtis mathis use to stand for something but its garbage! They dont stand behind their products! So I wont let em stand behind ME! Robert Ford 3505 W 105, Cleveland ohio 44111 (Disabled Vetran) I have had it with this TV. TV use to last forever I didnt have this one for a year before it messed up! I still have to watch it like it is. Its a shame!

This model has a history of defective capacitors in the vertical output circuitry. Have a technician change C824 a 10 uF @ 160V as well as C309 and C311 both 1uF @ 50Volt capacitors and your problem should be solved.

Is there a different view mode in the menu? like theatere mode or "stretch mode" Are there any tv adjustments at all? Sometimes you can power cycle the problem away. Tvs have computers in them and you know how computers are. They some times need to be turned off sit a bit then turn them back on. reset

Screeen color is green

This fault is called one color predominant screen. The cause might be to its video output card itself. There will be some loose solder terminals around the Green video output transistor. Check this card for any loose solder terminals. Just re-solder all the suspected solder terminals by applying a little more solder, without making any solder bridge short in between adjacent solder terminals. This card can be located at the neck of the picture tube [a rectangular board], will be directly plugged on to the back of the picture tube.

Curtis mathis tv takes to for picture to show after turning on

Look for a bad caps 250volt 2.2MF and a 25 volt 47MF near the horizontal deflection! And you may as well check the caps near the vertical IC as these are going bad...you have board out..you may as well do this. Then you will have a reconditoned TV with added years!

There was a smell of something burning then the picture screen went black. When I press the on/off switch I get a click as if the tv is on but no picture.

You have a bad capacitor. Look for a 250 volt 2.2MF cap..this baby is dry. And check for a 25volt47MF also in the horizontal defelection. If the power fuse [glass fuse clipped into board] is good you can still save this TV. And if you can change the caps near the vertical IC do so, as these are going down!

You have a High Voltage problem, more than likely the flyback transformer or the tripler.

Horizonal and vertical off.

My picture is too big for my screen also, I have a 27 inch screen and I can't see the scrolling tickers on the bottom and the baseball score readout on the top. When I turn the tv on, the heads are huge on the top and that finally comes into proportion, but it goes too far. I can't find a horozontal or vertical control in the manual or on the tv menu. What can I do?

Picture too big

you mean too big from side too side or top to bottom?? if its all the way around is there a zoom button on the remote??? if ita too big from top to bottom a part might have changed value in the vert sweep curcuit. You could very carefully take off the back and find a small pot or control in the vert cuircut and bring down the picture But I dont recomend this if you have no knowlege of tv curcuitry.
