You could replace the cells in the old battery if you want to bother opening it up, getting new cells, soldering them together and resealing the case. Unless you're used to doing that kind of work, it's probably not worth it.

But it appears that the battery has reached the end of its life, so nothing you do to it will make it work again.

Dell latitude D600 I was running without a battery when there was a brief power outage. The laptop shut down, and will not restart. It appears to start, but screen never comes on, and after about 30...

Try flexing the whole bottom assembly. that is with the laptop open put your knee in the middle and grab the unit with one hand on the corner closest to you and the other near the screen and put enough pressure to "flex " the mobo right after you push the start button if it doesn't start try it the other way... this has been working for my grandsons d600 for 6 months. i tried a new switch board because the guy that sold me the mobo said the plug for that is known to crack and that didn't fix it. good luck ps you will know it has worked when the 3 lock lights go out and the power light stays on.

Dell Latitude D600 won't power on w/ or w/out power adapter

the problem is really mysterious. because in most of cases the battery is the villain. and when it is replaced the issue should be over. there are no other components of a laptop which is directly or indirectly related with battery perfomance.
any way get back me with more details like the age of system and number of times taken to service center etc etc @ deepuunni1985@gmail.com

I don't know how to charge my battery

Its ok. Um just leave the battery plugged into your laptop and the power cord plugged into the laptop as well and the laptop will charge it for you. If it won't, the battery is no good and get a new one but you don't need a external battery charger to charge your laptop battery.

Orange and green light flash

The flashing battery light is an indication that the system is attempting to charge the battery. The orange light indicates a problem charging one of the battery cells. This usually means that the battery either needs to be recalibrated or replaced. To recalibrate the battery just use the system until the battery is dead, then recharge and repeat the process twice, after which time the battery should be recalibrated. If this doesn’t fix the flashing orange light then the battery may need to be replaced.

hope this helps

Laptop not powering on

when you unplug the ac adapter does the battery light lit up when you try to power on? If it does.. does the battery have life?? Well the next step is to remove the battery and try using only the AC adapter and see if it stays on.. if it doesn't they your power connection could be loose from the motherboard... B/C in general the LED for ac adapter should go on when you plug it in.... Well try that and see what happens..

Good luck..
