Philips Soundbar HTS8100

My phillips sound bar will not play DVDs. It just says reading disc and the disc starts and re starts spinning and nothing happens.

I think this is to do with an regeion unlock code I was given as after I imputted the code it stopped working a few days later?

Can you help

I have the same problem just started doing this in the last week or so.

Seems to play Audio CD's perfect

read somewhere else problem could be lack of power to the laser, apparently it takes more power for it to read dvds than audio tracks, also apparently its possible to adjust the laser power but dont know how to do this.....

Anyone know how to up the power to the laser?

Hi, My HTS8100 only gives some static noise, no matter which source I select.
Anyone had similar problem? Does it need a repair?

How do i repair low audio on my philips soundbar hts8100/37. All connections are correct. I have to turn sound bar up to max volume to hear it. The problem is intermittent. Could it be a software problem.

My HTS8100 2 yrs ago stopped working properly, sound was on its max and little was heard. Well after searching for solutions and took it for repair which was a waste, my brother came from Australia for a holiday who is a technician and fixed it for me. The problem is in the subwoofer, I am uploading a photo where this part is , STRX6759 SANKEN INTEGRATED CIRCUIT STRX6759. Its behind that capasitor. When I changed it the sound worked. Hope you will find it useful.

Same problem with my HTS8100. Little-to-no sound. Sometimes sound comes on very intermittently. I downloaded the software patch from the Philips website and installed it. This fixed the sound problem for about a week, then the problem came back. I'm not sure what else to do.

You just remove batteries , unplug all cables, then put everything back together. This will reset the unit to factory settings.

Need to multi region Phillips Soundbar

HI Ian,
Have also just purchased a Philips HTS8140 with Philips LCD screen.
Found a result on web as follows:
1.Turn on TV
2.Turn on Sound Bar System.
3.Press eject.
4.Press 9 9 9 0 (0 being Region Free or place the desired region #)
(a message displaying "region 0",or the region you chose, will appear on the screen.)
5.Switch soundbar off to soundby.
6.Turn player back on and it should be either region free or the region you selected.

So far I have not been able to check with anyother disc exept region 4.

Hope this is of help for you!

Hdmi

Its not designed to play HD DVDs, the model has HDMI connection in order to connect to latest output devices, viz flats panels and LCD tvs there by having a common audio and video cable. your model has a feature to upscale the normal DVD singal to match the quality output of hull HD TVs, hence the HDMI out put, do not confuse this with HD compatiability.

Go to the link below to check the full specs of your system.

http://www.consumer.philips.com/consumer/en/in/consumer/cc/_productid_HTS9800W_55_IN_CONSUMER/DVD-SACD-Home-Theater-System+HTS9800W-55

though yours is a high end set, but its not HD disc compatiable.

Regards
