You will probably find that there is one hard drive, with two partitions on your notebook.

Normally Acer have a back up folder on drive 'D', which stores all the restore information, normally by pressing Alt & F10 on boot up starts the system recovery, with all programmes and operating system as if new, but check in your notebook manual, normally at the back for the recovery details.

To create a back up of your docs and settings, use the NTI DVD( normally installed on all Acer notebooks) back up or DVD maker to back up to a DVD, if you don't have that, use windows back up on accesories or system tools.

Your options are either go to Acer for a replacement Vista recovery DVD or
Install a borrowed Vista DVD, must be same Vista Basic, Home Premium,
then use your registered CD key, normally located on the side or rear of your tower.
It will also tell which Vista type you have. You then must go to the Acer support site
and install then drivers for the componenets in you computer.
You will not have any other software installed that may have come with your
original setup from Acer. This option requires more work on your part, but
no cost to you. Acer will charge for a Recovery DVD, plus S&H.

I bought my acer aspirem5810 on 1/1/2010 and i used the shrink to have more partition and then when i wanted to creat the factory default disc i have an error which''the hard drive configuration is not set...

Hi, unfortunately, when you changed the formatting to (Shrink); this changes the Original settings from the Factory settings. You may need to make a copy using the factory / default setting firsts; then change the settings to shrink formatting, making a separate copy to CD. Thanks paul7of9

Acer aspire x1700 esettings management

If you made your factory restore dvd's using acer e-recovery management, and it completed successfully, you should be good. The only way to be sure is to do this:

back up an image of your pc to an external hard drive, AND make a backup of your important files. Try to restore the pc using the discs you made. If it works, restore your files. If it doesn't work, restore the image you backed up or call Acer for restore disks (free if in warranty)

I want to restore my Acer Aspire M1100 desktop computer back to factory settings. I have the disks from Acer, one is a System Disk and one is a Recovery Disk. Is there any way to restore/reinstall Vista...

Hello,

If you used the restore disk on your computer it will erase all files, and all your programs. the restore Factory settings means "ALL" settings the time you created the CD for the restore.

If you have an individual Vista Installer CD with the Serial you can use it and use restore option.

Thank you for using Fixya
Hope this helps.

How to back up windows vista and how to restore if any problem

Click start, all programs, look for Acer folder, you are looking for recovery media creator, have a couple of blank DVD-/+R and follow the instructions to create a restore set, you can only make one set,(until you restore again, then you COULD make another set). This only makes a copy of the factory installed software, it doesn't back up any of your personal data.
To restore, put the 1st disk in, and restart the PC, follow the prompts to boot to CD/DVD and start restore

Acer t180 boots to erecovery

Borrow any Vista install DVD and boot from it

Follow it through until you are asked if you want to install Vista or Repair your Computer
Select repair and let it do its thing - it may work
Failing that its a full reinstall by the sounds of it

If it does not offer you the initial boot option then look on the boot screen for the boot options key - probably F11 or F12 - and press that during initial boot to obtain the boot options screen

Missing Vista home basic product number

Acer gives you the option to create your own cd's. Click the start button & go to all programs. Look through the programs installed. Someting like DVD pro. or nero. There is a program in there so you can creat your own set of restore cd's. The reason your PC is so slow is because Acer loaded the system up with a ton a junk you'll never use. (Can always return it). I would befor the warranty runs out.........

Good Luck!
