Power/reving up issues

Got good idle but bad reving. loss of power when throttle is pulled open when i open it slow it trys to rev up and sometimes succeeds u got an idea what will cause this

    thats not the issue fixitman im not opening throttle all the way im just trying to get the car to actually go when i push the gas peddle. its not trany problems either cause it bottoms out power in every gear. i was told to start by replaceing fuel filter, then do a compression test on fuel line and then fuel rail ie pressure regulator valve, also try cleaning lenum what ever that is, also was told to take appart the throttle body and clean it up, another one was said to check vaccume, and somone else told me to replace spark plugs, wires, dist and i did that already i also replaced the mass airflow sensor since it was broke at the sensor plug. all i want to know is if somone else has had this kinda problem where the car idles but wont accelerate. and if they have let me know where to start and compare there problem with mine and there cure with my solutions.

The engine has a rev limiter to keep from blowing engine up with too much rpms at idle.

    Have you checked vacuum yet? You may want to because you may have a stopped up exhaust system which when you check with a vacuum gauge and you open the throttle the vacuum goes to zero or very low. If your exhaust sysytem is operating properly when you open the throttle the vacuum will go down shortly but come back up pretty quickly. Also you may want to check the rubber boot that goes from the mass air flow sensor to the throttle body for air leaks because that can also cause alot of problems. Hope this may help you. Let me know if I can help any further.

Peugeot 307 loss of power?

If the revs are limited, then it is in Limp Mode for a serious issue. You need to connect a Code Reader and check the Diagnostic Trouble Codes. Garages will read them for free in the hope of getting the work. Write the codes down and come back to this post.

How do i fix ford xf sticky accelerator

I suspect there should be a spring to return the throttle lever to the idle position. Without the spring, the throttle plate will stay open and allow the engine to run at high rpm.

High reving engine

Probably a sticking throttle cable - when this occurs, look under the hood to see if the throttle lever on the throttle body is fully in the rest position.

Over reving

Can be a number of things (check all of these):

  1. Stuck throttle linkage or accelerator pedal;
  2. Loose butterfly on throttle body;
  3. Stuck or malfunctioning idle air controller;
  4. Loose or damaged throttle body or bad throttle body gasket;
  5. Cracked intake manifold or bad intake manifold gasket;
  6. Bad ignition control module.

My engine revs and trys to take off while i am sitting still, the car would be in drive and my foot on the brake, It revs up and sometimes when i let off the break it surges forward then shuts down in...

The idling may be a loose connection to the "idle air control valve". if the control valve connection is secure, then it could also be a bad Throttle Positioning Sensor (TPS). To test the TPS, tap it with a screwdriver while the engine is self-revving, and see if the reving changes when tapped. if its not the TPS, then try cleaning the throttle body.

Engine speed hunts on idle. Auto trans slow shift.

The fast idle valve is inside the throttle body. Sometimes it backs out and needs turned back in (it's threaded). This will cause the loping idle.

Get transmission filter changed with new fluid. Honda does not recommend transmission flushing.
