RCA 27" TV

My TV's picture is not as sharp as before. If I am watching with sub-title or end credit, words are not readable. Also, there are fine blue horizontal lines across the whole screen. How do I get this fixed?

Re: RCA 27" TV

Typical problem with an older set. sounds like the crts starting to fade as manufactureres Im thinking build into a set faults that they know will happen after a certain time frame and most do this is why there are so many reoccouring falures in a tv sets life. this is simply my thoughts on this subject!! You could have your local tv guy shoot the tube (not with a gun!!) with a crt rejuvenator to maybe clean off the grids of the tube. sometimes this will help BUT its a risk also Sometimes it will ruin the picture tube also. I have a set that I rejuvenated the tube 4 years ago as it looked like crap but to this date s its stil looking good as it did when new!

There are 2 things you try. go into menu to picture setup scroll down to sharpness, back this setting all the off. If this doesn't do it, go to back of the set on right hand side, if you can see focus slot adjust it slightly.

Rca tru flat tv has a red picture

Is your video input (from cable or satellite or fiber optic, etc.) coming from a coaxial cable, a component cable (red, green, and blue connectors), or an RCA cable (yellow connector for video)?

If you can, try an alternate input method and see if that makes a difference. Does it happen when watching DVDs or tapes, or when playing video games, or just when watching television?

Screan turned a shade of purple

I believe you have lost the green channel leaving only the red and blue. It could be an internal connection like a solder joint or connector, or it could be component failure from the CRT to an adjustment pot. Being the set is ten years old it wouldn't be worth spending a lot of money on it. You can buy a 27 inch TV now for almost what a repair would cost. If the picture was very good before this probem you may try to get it fixed cheap. Otherwise it probably wouldn't be worth it.
My 27 inch TV's (A Sony and a Sharp) are pretty old and I would fix them myself if the picture tube was very good.
This may be a very good time to buy considering the discounts being offered. ;-)).
