Question about LG Projection Televisions

7 Answers

Hi. I recently purchased an LG 37LG5010 LCD TV. I have a hearing problem and want to use the headphones. However, while the headphones do indeed work, when they are in use, the main TV speakers are muted. Is it possible to have the headphones plugged in, and have the main speakers operational at the same time. Thank you s.cannon@sisk.ie

    OK-understand that all LCD TVs do not allow phones and speakers to work simultaneosly. Is there additional kit that would allow a favourable solution

Hi,

If I understand your requirements right, they would be:

  • headphones operate; simultaneously with
  • main speakers.
However, the LG 37LG5010 LCD TV has limitations that are:
  • once headphones plugged in, the main speakers cutoff;
  • there are no line/audio output at the rear of the unit for use of standard headphone/external amplifier.
A possible solution based on your post "...Is there additional kit...":
  • use the Digital Audio output (optical digital audio outputs [Toslink] or coaxial digital audio outputs);
  • connect a Zhaolu D2.5C DAC & Headphone Amp or similar products;
  • connect your headphone to the Zhaolu D2.5C;
  • Additionally, the Zhaolu D2.5 has RCA audio output that can be connected to an external audio amplifier or home theater receiver/system
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

    An alternative is to use an external monitor pair (speaker/amp combo with headphone out) capable of accepting 24-bit/96kHz capable S/PDIF optical & coaxial. An example is Roland's MA-20D.

Unfortunately your set does not have the ability to do this without an internal modification. In the future, you should look for a set that also provides audio out jacks on the back for connection to a stereo. Those jacks are independent of the speakers and would provide you with the flexability to use an adaptive listening device.

It is impossible to have the headphones plugged in, and have the main speakers operational at the same time without taking the tv apart and modifying the internal wiring.

the only way to ddo that is by paying a technician to modify your TV, this will invalidate the guaranty.

    There is no kit, the technician will just have to cut one of the female jack wirings, and solder it on another contact, that will allow you to use headphones without excluding speakers.

    Another solution is buying external speakers and an audio splitte like this 3.5mm Splitter, 6 ft.
    Then buy external speaker and connect both headphones and speakers to splitter.
    Here you get external speakers 2-Way Satellite Speakers or Portable Speakers- Diamond Tower Light

Check the back of the TV & look for the audio-out RCA jacks - hook it up with an audio receiver.

Hi I recently purchased the hitachi smart 50 inch tv but the sound keeps fadin away then coming back ? Sometimes it's so low I can't hear anythin at all ?

Go back to the dealer or call Hitachi service. The set should be under warranty and you may need to get them into fix the set. But, first, go back and go through the setup procedures again to make sure something didn't go wrong during the setting and channel search functions.

I would suggest to double check the audio source that is getting into your RCA 900MHz Wireless transmitter. If you do not hear anything on the headphones it means that there is not audio getting into the transmitter.

Hello, I have an LG lcd rear projection tv and parts of the screen are turning blue, do you think it's just the bulb or the light engine?

Hey there first of all your tv is a lcd rear projection set, this tv's don't have a light engine system, they use a optical block

whats happpening is that one of your lcd chips is burning out and this problem will start to get worst, to be honest with you it's very hard to purchase just the LCD chips, you need to buy the optical block to fix your set, also the bulb has nothing to do with the color the bulb just shoots out light.

I recently purchased a KDL-40W5100 LCD Digital Color TV. I gives a great picture, but when I turn on my Panasonic DVD connected to it I get a blue snowy picture (it worked fine on the old TV)Can you help?

Hi,
This may be due to a setting on the dvd player itself. What kind of tv did you have previously? Also what kind of connection are you using to hook up the dvd player to the tv? Lastly, if you have the model number for the dvd player it will help if/when you need further assistance.
Thank you,

LG `21` INCH TV

If it has been moved or bumped recently the sound you are hearing is the main HT lead that has been displaced. TGhis is a blasck lead with a rubber disk surround at its end that fits into the picture tube. Do not touch without turning TV Off and using rubber gloves to reinsert.

I've just purchased a Sanyo 19" LCD High Definition Televison for my aunt. She is hard of hearing and I've used ear phones on her last two Tv's. Is there a way to attach ear phones to this TV? Thank...

Most TV manufacturers no longer put headphone jacks on the TV's. None of the audio outputs will have the correct impedance for a set of headphones. The most reasonable option I think would be to see if your local electronics or audio store has a small headphone amplifier that can be plugged into the audio line out RCA jacks.
