First do not panic! It is possible to recover your pictures if you take care. Take the card from the camera (powered off) and if it has a "write protect" tab then lock it now. Do not try and write anything to the card or you risk causing more problems.

You can either plug in you camera to the PC as it should appear as a “Removable Drive” or put the card in a card reader attached to your PC.

Next, if you are comfortable with using a PC then you can download a FREE utility that will recover your photos from the following link:

http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec

If you need something a little more "user friendly" then you will need to buy the software. If you search the web for photo recovery software you will find many.
One I have used successfully is RescuePro that used to be bundled with some Sandisk products. Now you can get it from the link below:

http://www.lc-tech.com/software/prwindetail.html

You can try the demo to see what you can recover before buying.

Remember - Do NOT try & write anything back to the card until you can recover your pictures to your PC safely!

Please take a moment to rate this solution & let us know if the information given was useful to you – Good Luck!

I just accidently deleted a film from my Ricoh Caplio r5 camera, any chance i can have it back..? S x

First of all, do not save any new file to camera's memory card.

Take out memory card, and connect it to computer using a card reader. You should see memory card shown as a drive letter (like H:) in Windows Explorer.
Download this file recovery software called asoftech data recovery
http://download.cnet.com/Asoftech-Data-Recovery/3000-2248_4-75328850.html?part=dl-75328850&subj=dl&tag=button
Install and open the photo recovery software, select the memory card, and click 'Next' button.

I accidently clicked format card and now i can only take video, no pictures

First download anything that is on the card into your computer so that you save it, then remove the card from the camera for 15 seconds and reinstall. Delete any and all files on the card. After that, complete another format to reset the card. If formatting in the camera doesn't work, install the card in a computer and format on the computer, reinstall and try it out.

I accidently deleted ALL of my videos on my sony dcr sr85 i was deleting a certain file but then i deleted all of them

Hello

It happens to everyone. You delete a picture or accidentally format a memory card that should not have been deleted/formatted. Luckily there is a way to recover you data if you have not used the drive since losing the data.

To start , download Disc digger from the following link :

Diskdigger

This program is freeware but donations to the developer are encouraged to help maintain and improve the program.

After the program has finished downloading , simply unzip it and run it (no installation). If you do not have a program to unzip it , CLICK HERE to download winrar.

Make sure that your memory card is connected to your computer either via the camera or preferably via a external card reading unit.

Now , select your memory card from the list when you open the program and then click next.

a0bfb5f.jpg

Now , for accidentally deleted files , select "dig deep"
For a formatted card/drive select "dig deeper"

Now select the file types you would like to recover on the next page and then select next.

bad48d4.jpg

The program will now start searching for viable files of the type you selected.

544eb36.jpg

Files that are found are displayed on the left of the window. Once the scan completes , select all the files found and click the save pictures button.

Now select a file other than the memory card to save the recovered files and select OK.

The files will now be written to your hard drive and can be viewed on the location chosen. Unfortunately all meta data and names of files are lost because of the format , but at least the picture can be recovered which is the important part anyways.

If you restored a file which was accidentally deleted , the file name and meta data will be restored.

Feel free to let me know if you need any further assistance.

Kind regards
Andrea

How to retrieve my deleted videos/pictures

I had a case when I accidentally mirrored my drive and overwritten ALL my files. I tried to download a software "RecoverMyFiles v3.9" and it worked perfectly for me! In your case, you can still recover all of those deleted files of yours as long as they're still intact ( meaning to say the drive isn't formatted ). All the deleted files could be found on a hidden folder called RECYCLER.

The drawback when you recovered your files, you have to open each of the files you recovered 'cause it won't provide you all the file names before you recently named your files.

How to retrieve my deleted videos/pictures

I'd search Tucows.com or download.com for freeware file recovery programs and try the ones with good user reviews until you find one that works. Some programs work better than others.

If none of those work you may have to try/buy one of the ones you have to pay for. Only you can decide whether the lost pictures are worth paying to recover.
