I have a geforce 7900, I'm not sure which model. I have had it for years, it has always worked perfectly. I recently reinstalled windows xp on my desktop and when I went to reinstall the driver for it, it makes the quality (resolution) very very low (800x600) and everything becomes very grainy, almost is if there is wayy too much contrast to everything. It will not allow me to change my resolution settings either even though it asks if I would like windows to do it for me because the settings are so low. It won't even fix itself. I have gone into device manager and uninstalled the driver and then reinstalled it several times.. but still the same thing. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Will this solution solve possible overheating problem? I am getting alot of large polygons during game play. it worked fine but then it went downhill. Ive had it for a couple years, but I dont know how age would change anything

Re: geforce 7900 driver problem.
If re-installing the GeForce 7900 driver does not correct the problem it may be because you need to install first the AGP port driver of the motherboard. In some motherboards, this is part of the chipset. In the case of VIA chipsets, the AGP driver (not the video card) is part of the 4 in 1 driver set.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

did you try to update driver from device manager or uninstall drivers from there this could be where problem lies as device manager removes all parts of driver other programs may not remove all parts even though they say so
