Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC07 Animal. Please note, the brushbar will not rotate when the cleaner is standing in the upright position, or if you've turned it off using the brush control.

To check everything is correct with the cleaner, switch the cleaner on, recline it into the vacuuming position, and check you have the brush control set to 'Carpets'. If the brushbar is still not rotating, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly. One of our experts will be happy to run through some troubleshooting over the phone with you to identify the cause of the issue, and will be able to recommend the best course of action. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US).

Kind regards,

Jack

Dyson DC40 Upright Vacuum. The brush bar intermittently not working.

Question edited for clarity.
Question moved to model category.

You say 'vacuuming the floor'. Hard floors should not have the brush bar turning. The brush is for carpets only.

There are two belts on this machine. One is between the clutch unit and is very hard to remove. you can however remove the brush belt and remove all fluff, hairs and threads and then replace the belt.

Bare floor roller will not turn on Dyson V8 absolute. How do Infix this?

their is a reason for this, it is made that way. dyson developed it so when you go from carpet to floor or start with the floor the machine senses this and turns the brushes off. this is done to protect your bare floors from any type of scratches you may get from the brushes good luck

Our DC41 is impossible to push on carpet. Is there an adjustment to do? Almost like there is too much suction.

See if the following information can help.

CARPETS OR HARD FLOORS

• The brush bar will always default to 'ON' (spinning) each time you switch the

appliance 'ON' and recline it for cleaning.

• The brush bar will not rotate when the appliance is upright.

• To switch the brush bar 'OFF' (e.g. for delicate rugs and hard floors):

- switch the appliance 'ON'

- recline the appliance

- press the brush bar 'ON/OFF' button - the brush bar will stop spinning.

• The brush bar will automatically stop if it becomes obstructed. See 'Brush bar -

clearing obstructions'.

• Before vacuuming your flooring, rugs and carpets, check the manufacturer's

recommended cleaning instructions.

• Some carpets may fuzz if a rotating brush bar is used when vacuuming. If this

happens, we recommend vacuuming in 'hard floor' mode and consulting with

the flooring manufacturer.

• The brush bar on the appliance may damage some carpet types. If you are
unsure, turn 'OFF' the brush bar.

How do I change to different powers

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC24's brush bar is powered by its own motor. This means the brush bar can be turned on for carpets and rugs, and off for hard floors or delicate rugs.

To turn off the brush bar, just press the silver brush control switch located next to the red on/off switch. Press it a second time to turn the brush bar back on.

Why is my dyson26 is scratching my wooden floors when brush is turned off?

The heads are designed to be used with the brush on hard floors. On the bottom of the brush head there are either Metal or plastic pads. If you use this on a tiled or hard floor without the brushes, these can wear and become sharp in places.. This scratches the floor!!

The brushes do not disengage when in upright position

Set the brush control, as needed. The brush control turns the brushbar on the underside of the vacuum on and off. The button is located beside the power button, on the top-front of the vacuum cleaner. Turn on the brush control for cleaning carpet. Turn off the brush control for bare floors or delicatelb_icon1.png rugs..

My dyson has lost suction and the brushes do not rotate

Sounds like a broken belt may have been pulled up into the machine. Plan on replacing the belt and cleaning the beater brush. Remove the beater brush and clean off all debris, especially at both ends. You will find a square(?) piece at each end of the beater brush that holds it in place. This need to turn freely. Put a little WD40 on these where the center rod of the beater brush enters the small holders and turn by hand until they turn freely. Once this is done, assemble with new belt if needed, making sure the belt is put on properly.

Does the vacuum lose suction when in the floor mode if the belt is broken?

To put it simply, no. By floor mode I'm assuming you're stopping the brush roll from turning so that you can clean hard surface floors instead of carpet. When the brush roll doesn't turn you do lose agitation which vibrates the carpet so that the dirt is more easily picked up by the vacuum. But you don't lose suction because the brush is not turning.
