It believe you are talking about printer installation which keep failing over and over.
If this is right then follow these steps to fix it:-These steps are recommended steps which always need to be done before installing a new printer.
1.Before you initiate the printer installation make sure your Antivirus software firewall is turned off.
like if you are using norton then >>right click on norton on bottom right hand side corner>>it give you a pop up menu then left click turn off norton firewall. and do the same thing if you any other antivirus.
2.Before you install the printer make sure you don't have that printer drivers already installed. If have already installed that printer drivers earlier then first uninstall that printer drivers.
after you uninstall the previous printer drivers then after that restart your computer once.
For that you need to uninstall old printer driver and all usb drivers. First make sure your usb cable working fine. Try it in different usb ports. if still same then uninstall usb driver from device manager. Right click on my computer icon then click on property then hardware->device manager. Then you can see all driver list then uninstall usb drivers 1 by 1 then it install all usb drivers automatic. Then go to control panel->add remove programs uninstall printer driver. Then reinstall printer driver from disk or download driver from internet. Then install.. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.
Do you know for sure the original cartridge was empty? Take a clean pencil with eraser, and gently "erase" the electrical contacts on the cartridge and the printer where the 2 connect. See if that helps. If it is USB, unplug it and plug it back in. You might try to uninstall and reinstall the driver for the printer.
what operating system are you using? if you have windows vista then go to the dell site, download the patch under the windows vista drivers. run the patch, it will remove all traces of the software then download the latest vista driver form the dell site and install it. if that doesnt work then try this.
1. Download the latest Vista driver. 2. Disconnect the PC from the network/Internet 3. Delete the printer 4. Disconnect the printer from the PC 5. Uninstall the software from Device Manager (you have to choose view, show hidden devices). Right click on the printer and choose uninstall. 6. Uninstall the software from the program group or the control panel. 7. Reboot 8. Delete everything in C:\windows\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86\ 9. Install the Vista Driver reconnecting the printer when the driver install calls for it.
1)right click the my computer icon 2)click properties and then click hardware n go to device manager. 3)uninstall all usb ports and then scan for hardware changes 4)ur pc will detect your printer and ask for printer drivers 5)re load drivers and your pc will communicate with your printer 6)for reloding install the cd follow the instructions on the screen and click next 7)restart when the printer is loded.connect the wires and cords properly.
hit "start" and go to Printers and Faxes. In the side bar, choose add a printer, follow the instructions in the wizard to automatically, install and use the printer. Also check and make sure that you have any software that comes with the printer, as some of them need it in order to run. If all else fails, uninstall the printer by selecting it in the Printer and Faxes, right clicking and select DELETE. Then follow the above steps to reinstall it.
kidd, you need to go to this site:
The operating system has changed since either XP sp2 and its plethera of security updates and hot fixes or even that you are using Vista. The printer needs newer drivers downloaded and installed. Make sure all instances of the existing printer are deleted/or are uninstalled.
fyi I had found this while searching. Not that it helps..but other people feel your pain.
