My phone worked fine before I lost my USB-Juke cable that came with it.. I lost it and bought a new one from " fone GEAR" It will charge, so there's no electrical connection problems. When I plug in it to the laptop, it says: "One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and windows does not recognize it." It calls it Unknown Device. It has no drivers. The probable cause is the USB cable. I would like to use it to put music on my phone again, but so far, it's a no-go. I tried downloading drivers straight from the sources, but they didn't help much.

You have two solutions: 1. Get out phone's card , put it into a card reader and read it on PC
2. You must install on your computer Nokia OVi Suite or Nokia PC Suite
and after that you may connect the phone to pc and it will recognize your phone. That software is free licenced.
This doesn't sound like an OS issue. This appears to be more an issue of the connection to the hard drive. The USB cable likely isn't the culprit, nor the laptop USB inputs. If the drive was ever dropped or the cable gets removed and reattached often to the actual enclosure, you might be looking at a bad port on the enclosure. This isnt a lost cause. You can always buy a hard drive enclosure from newegg and move the drive from the IOMEGA to the new enclosure. You can get a new enclosure for $15. Just because the USB port is bad, it doesnt mean the data is gone and the hard drive cant be used.
If you go to Control Panel -> System -> HardWare and check USB controllers which shud give you a list of all USB ports. Below that you will find Wireless Communication Devices. In this you shud find all the modes your phone is installed as. Check if all these settings are present.
Secondly, install PC Suite now that you have restores the system to an earlier date. Connect the phone and connect.
