DEH -1700 Pioneer

Has worked fine up till now. No response from any of the controls. Can'teject CD, volume no response, can't even shut it off. Have taken the face plate on and off till I am blue in the face. Pulled the power plug and pluged back in, still the same. Any ideas?

It sounds like you may have a cracked display board. Have you dropped the face plate or has anything hit it while driving? If this is the case, you will need to take it in for repair, but since it is a low cost radio it may not be worth spending that kind of money on it. If the display board is not cracked, it could be the microprocessor or another electronic device. It does not sound like the type of repair that would be able to be done without having a technician check it out. As with most types of problems with electronic equipment, the cause of the problem can be a variety of different things that can only be determined with certainty by troubleshooting by a technician. Since you have no control functions from the display, the most common cause of this I have seen is the board being cracked. It only takes a very small crack in just the right place to render it inoperative.

I am sorry to give you such bad news, if I thought that it was something simple I would tell you. But this is not a simple problem that can be solved without checking it out on a repair bench with the proper test equipment.

If you can find a service center that offers free estimates it would be worth getting it checked out, but if I were you, I would buy a new one and then you would at least have the 1 year manufacturers warranty for about the same price or maybe even cheaper than getting it repaired.

Another option for you could be to contact Pioneer customer service and see if they may cover it for you if your warranty has already expired.

I hope this helped, let me know if I can be of any further help.

Pioneer DEH - 1700

The wires that you are looking for on the back of the radio is the yellow, red, and black. The yellow is for constant power, the red is for power only when the key is turned on, and the black is ground. You need all three in order for it to work.

Preset memory not working on pioneer DEH 1700 radio

You must connect the constant hot wire (or there is a fuse blown somewhere).... it should either be orange or yellow at the rear of the pioneer radio ... it should be connected to a wire that recieves power even when the key is off ... that wire will depend on the car itself ... if you used a connector to plug into the factory wires (a good idea) that connecter should have a yellow wire that would supply a constant "hot" for your pioneer, if it doesn't there should be a fuse blown in the car fuse box.

AUX input on Pioneer DEH P31000

There is a plug on the back called an IP-BUS. You should be able to hook the ipod directly up to that with a simple homemade adapter. I built one for mine and it works fine.
