Question about Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-F828 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Dropped camera Though my camera was in a well-padded case, the contact with the cement in the metro-station was too much. Should I bother paying $211 for a Sony authorized dealer to even look at it, or should I apply the $211 to a new camera? The camera turns on but no longer takes pictures and won't shut off unless I remove the battery. My thanks in advance.

Dropped and now all exposures are black.

Oops. that hurts. But I'm afraid it won't be worth repairing this one. I already saw the body been sold for less than 300 euro new. And I think the repair centre will ask more for opening and closing this one. Then you still have a used body.
Start saving or perhaps you have an insurance that will pay a new one for you?

Fuzzy Pictures w/ Nikon D3000

If this is a new camera, it should still be under warranty. I suggest you contact Nikon before doing anything else to determine if the repair would be covered under warranty. Nikon also would be in a position to advise you as to what the problem might be so that in the event that the repair is not covered under warranty, you don't replace the wrong thing.

Canon PowerShot A95 will no longer power up

Here are some simple things to try first for a camera that won't power on. They won't work for every case, but they're worth a try. Pay particular attention to the small contact switches on the battery and flash card doors. Also inspect the battery contact prongs to make sure they haven't been bent to the point that they're not springing the battery to make contact with the battery door.

My nikon d40 dropped on concrete, but there was no physical damage. However, now it wont take pictures anymore and gives a *whirring* sound when i click on the picture snap button. Any advise???

You may not see damage but obviously bouncing off cement is not good for delicate camera electronics. Some serious damage has happened to your camera.

If under warranty send to manufacturer. You will likely have to pay for repair but waranty may cover some of it. As always weight the possible costs of repair with the purchase of another camera.

Canon PowerShot® SD850 IS

what you are seeing is a generic message that means there is some sort of problem with the lens, it could happen in many different ways such as sand or dirt in the lens gears.

If your camera is less than a year old, please call Canon and have them fix it under warranty!

If your camera is more than a year old and out of warranty, a couple solutions would be to either buy a defective camera online and make one good camera from the two if you can do that sort of thing yourself, or secondly have it repaired by somebody.

Don't bother trying to send the camera to Canon for repair out of warranty (though you can call them and verify what I'm about to say) because they will want $150+ to do the repair for you. Parts are not cheap to buy from them.

I know of one very affordable digital camera repair business... because I own it. The name is Darntoothysam com, feel free to check us out, we are on that big auction website also (I don't plug their name for free), our seller ID is 'darntoothysam'. If you Google "darntoothysam" you will find us.

We have your repair listed as a package in our store for about $70. This covers a new lens, and return shipping of your camera! We even give a 45 day warranty on parts and labor. If you think you can use us then please check us out, even if you need to ask more questions then please feel free to contact me.

Hope this helps,

All images are vignetted

Recently my Fuji S20 pro pictures started to look like purple and green blurred water colour images. Sometimes there is horizontal lines in the pics. like when your printer stars to get low on toner. I called customer service. They said to send it in. My cost. They will send an estimate if I want it fixed i pay. If I do not and want it back they will charge me $25 to get it back. Or they will keep it and recycle it. How kind of them!!!

Yellowish lcd intermitant problem

Problem is in bad contacts in LCD area. In some cases it is sufficient only to clean the flat cables connecting LCD and the main board. The solution for this kind of problem is a job for a pro. In order to stay on a safe (rather than sorry)side, please contact a technician with the best references. If you need more info please advice
