The question is ... which password ... and are you the owner of this notebook ...
if it is the supervisor password .. the notebooks motherboard needs to be replaced ..
contact your local service provider .. and they will deal with it ..
if its the hard drive password .. your in a simular boat ..
if it's the power on password .. and your willing to take the effort/risks ...
see www.lenovoservicetraining.com ...watch the appropriate videos .. download the HMM (service manual) .. power off the notebook .. remove AC adapter & Battery ... the whatever components necessary to remove the RTC/CMOS/BackUp Battery .. let sit for 15-20 secs .. then put it back together

Have you tried a different power adapter? Is the fan working? I assume it is getting through the ram check? Also try with the battery out. Is it saving bios settings?

Sir i am using Lenovo laptop with 3000 y410 series.Sir I have already installed 2 os,which are windows 7 and red hat linux. In red hat os my audio & video driver would not be there. Can u tell me from...

Hi Alithenu,

Installing driver to your computer is so easy as long as we have the latest driver that matches the operating system. Based on your concern, you already installed 2 operating systems on your computer and one of them (Red Hat Linux) wont activate the Audio and Video. The reason why Audio and Video won't work using Linux is because of missing driver. Based on the official support download site of your system, they only released drivers for windows XP and Windows Vista 32 bit. Please visit this link for your reference. Just go to the Audio and Video section. The only way that you can activate the Audio and Video is by putting back the original operating system that came with your computer.

--> If you're now planning to restore the system to the factory setting, please use the One Key Recovery feature of your computer. It will bring back again the original operating system of your PC.
--> Please visit my link for the complete guide and steps for the One Key Recovery (OKR).

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Horizontal lines in avi/divx files lenovo t61

Sounds like video codecs problem.

There are to ways to go:
1. (The better in my opinion): forget Winamp and Windows media player, and use Smplayer instead, which uses it's own codecs (and better in all possible ways). You can download it from here.

2. If you'd like to stick with Winamp or Media player, then uninstall any video codecs (not drivers!) from your computer (if there's any), then download and install a proper codec pack, for example: K-lite codecpack (basic is enough) from here.

Hope this helps.

Reset factory password on t61 lenovo

password for what? bios or windows?
if it's the windows password, press the f8 key before windows starts and choose safe mode, choose administrator for the username and then go to user accounts and remove the password for your account.
if it's the bios password, you have to strip the laptop and pull the bios battery on the system...it looks like a large watch battery but becarefull not to break anything.

How can i install red hat linux on my hp laptop

Actually, Red Hat Linux is now only an Enterprise Level Operating system. Fedora on the other hand is sponsored by Red Hat and is much better suited for a personal computer. Just head over to fedoraproject.org and download the Fedora 10 ISO. Then burn it to a CD and reboot your computer. It should boot automatically into Fedora.

Hope that helped!!

Problem in installing new operating system on lenovo T61

I ran into the same problem when installing Windows XP SP2. This is what you do.. 1. Go into the BIOS (F1 during startup). 2. Go to the SATA menu. 3. Change the setting to compatiablty. You should be able to install the operation now. After the installtion of the base os, you should go to lenovo website to download the drivers and follow the instructions there.
