I have a Hitachi 50"

It has bad capacitors on the power board. they cost about $20.00 . if you unscrew all the screws on the back of the tv and take off the metal back. You will see two capacitors that look like 2 fat batteries they are the color brown they will have a bulge at the top of the capacitor. the silver top will be rounded you can feel it with your finger. if you disconnect the power board and take it to the shop so they can replace the capacitors it will be a lot cheaper or if you know someone who knows how to solder who will help you that would be even better. Servicing by opening the back cover should be performed only by a qualified service technician.

First do you see a light indicating that the TV has power? There are two power buttons on the TV (the main power and the regular power button). The red standby light will light up when the main power switch is on. This indicator is just to the left of the remote I/R sensor. You can find the main switch on the bottom front of the tv (it is under the tv forward of the stand). Turn on the Main power if it is not on. Then try the power button on the control panel of the TV again.

Does the standby light change color or blink? (Red is standby, orange is power savings (no signal), blue is on.) If the main switch is on and the standby light doesn't come on, the TV has a problem at the power supply. Try unplugging the unit for a bit (at least 30 seconds) and then plugging it back in. This will reset the internal circuitry. If you see a blinking light, then the TV is reporting a self-test failure. I do not know the codes for this model Hitachi Plasma TV.

I'm assuming you don't have one of the special versions that were intended for large audiences that were only controlled by remote (no control keys on the front of the TV). Unfortunately, this indicates a technical fault with the TV which can only be fixed by a service engineer.
If the light is blue and blinks 3 times, it is indicating a fault with one (or both) of 2 circuit boards inside. They are the XSUS or YSUS boards and will possibly need replacing.
At least knowing this might help you ascertain a quote as too how much the repair will cost.

my hatachi hd/1080 tv has a solid blue light on and it wont turn on i push the reset button on the bottom right and it still wont turn on

It seems that your unit has some sort of  PSU fault, or a problem that is shutting down the Power Supply Unit, PSU. This happens so that no further damage, and possible fire will occur. 

Remember there are lethal Voltages inside TV's, and generally these days don't contain any "User Serviceable parts" like in the "Old" days, instead Board Replacement is all that is generally done. 

You need to take the unit to a reputable service centre/man and ask for a firm "Quote" for the work to be done.

unplug unit for 1 minute turn off main power button plug in then press main power button and try!

The satilite works. The TV won't turn on al all, teied everything.
