Hello,

I am presuming you have XP on your computer.

According to ATI, this graphics board should work fine in a spare PCI slot.

Install in the top PCI slot as your CMOS detects top to bottom.
XP should detect the ATI board and will ask for drivers.
Install your CD drivers and or software as needed.

If you have VIsta or Windows 7, it does not appear ATI supports them for drivers.

Good Luck

DOWNLOAD ATI RADEON PCI EXPRES X300 SE 128MB

Need more information on the exact problem and what and where you downloaded. I assume you are replacing the integrated video adapter with a PCI expansion slot.

You must disable the integrated Motherboard video adapter in the BIOS. The new card must be compatible with the expansion bus in your computer. New drivers new from the manufacturer must be installed before the PCI express card.

Follow the instructions included with the new graphics card.

Hi, Is Asus ATI Radeon HD6450 Silence 1GB DDR3 VGA/DVI/HDMI Low Profile PCI-Express Video Card capable for my Compaq HP Presario SR2020NX? -thanks a lot.

You mean will the Asus ATI Radeon HD6450 with 1GB of graphics memory, work in a Compaq Presario SR2020NX Desktop PC?

Yes.

The Compaq Presario SR2020NX Desktop PC has a PCI-Express x16 expansion slot.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00757470&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&lc=en&product=3245048

{Motherboard illustration and photo are towards the bottom of the page}

Look at the specifications.
Scroll down to the heading - Expansion slots.

Three PCI. (PCI expansion slots)

One PCI Express x16 graphics.

NOTE*
Looking at the motherboard illustration, it is Wrong.
Shows - PCIEX1 (PCI E X1)
According to the specifications it is a PCIEX16 expansion slot. (PCI-E x16)

A PCI-Express x1 slot has 36 contact pins. 18 on each side.

In comparison a PCI slot {White} has 124 contact pins. 62 on each side.

Looking at the photo of the supposed PCI-E x1 slot they show, the black PCI-Ex1 slot is longer than the white PCI slots.

It is a PCI-Express x16 slot with 164 pins. 82 on each side.

The Asus ATI Radeon HD6450 uses a PCI-Express x16 expansion slot.

So you know the graphics card will fit. Low-profile to boot.

Power requirement:
The Compaq Presario SR2020NX desktop computer comes with a 300 Watt power supply.
(Although in actuality it's more like 70 percent of the maximum rated wattage. 210 Watts)

Enough power for the computer, and the graphics card.
ATI graphics cards do not use as much power as a comparable Nvidia graphics card.

Concerned that the Asus graphics card uses DDR3 graphics ram memory, and the Presario SR2020NX uses DDR2 Sdram ram memory?

Don't be. The graphics cards graphics memory runs independent of the computer's ram memory.

Type of video card

The Compaq Presario SR1630NX desktop computer, has a PCI-Express x16 slot on the motherboard, for a PCI-Express graphics card.

The Presario SR1630NX came out in 2005.
PCI-Express 2.0 technology came out January 15, 2007.

The Presario SR1630NX uses the PCI-Express 1.1 technology.

You can use a graphics card based on the PCI Express 2.0 technology, however.

PCI Express 2.0 is Backward Compatible with PCI Express 1.1

You just won't get the full capability, of a graphics card based on the PCI Express 2.0 technology.

Will you notice?

NO

Which graphics card support for Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG? Currently using ATI Radeon X1550 Series and planning on getting ATI Radeon HD 4600. Is it compatible? I'm currently using Windows 7 Ultimate.

If your motherboard has a PCI-E 2.0 slot then the HD 4600 will work to full capabilities, if it is PCI-E 1 then it should still work but it will not work as fast as it would using full ability. Hope this helps.

Well, any GPU with pci expess will be compatible thit that mobo of your.

Its not easy to recomend any specific, it all depends of what you needs are.

Just make sure that the card you upgrade with is for an pci express slot.
A verry good GPU coast around 150-200 euros, a top GPU card cost 400-600 euros
There are ATI cards and there are Nvidia cards, both will suit with your MoBo as long as they are for pci express.

Good luck with your new card M8!

Graphics cards

Hi noxiney, you're MSI motherboard does have 1 opened AGP 8x4x slot. You can install & run the ATI Radeon X1650 PRO AGP. You can not run PCI-Express because there are no PCI-E slots on the board. There are PCI (White in color) on the board but the AGP slot is much faster than the PCI (White in color slots). The manual states the AGP card can only support 1.5volt video cards & not 3.3volt AGP cards. (Keep this in mind when looking for an AGP card).
Below is a link to a bunch of AGP 8x4x video cards. One or two include DDR2 memory. Carefull where you buy. Check the warranty. (Longer is better). The first one on the list would be compatible. Its not DDR2 but it does have 512MB of memory.
http://www.google.com/products?hl=en&q=AGP+ATI+Radeon+X1650+PRO&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=X&oi=product_result_group&resnum=1&ct=title

This card is 1.5v compatable.
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3101648&CatId=318
& this is compatable.
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1642902&CatId=318
Just remember, if the card can run both 8x & 4x it should support the 1.5volt needed to function on the MB.

Enjoy!
