Count the number of digits (d) to the right of the decimal point of the decimal number.Example: 2.56 has 2 digits to the right of the decimal point, so d=2.
Calculate the factor (f) for making the decimal number an integer:
f = 10 to power d
Example: f = 10 power 2 = 100
Multiply and divide the decimal number x by the factor f:
x * f / f = y / f
2.56 * 100 / 100 = 256 / 100
Find the greatest common divisor (gcd) of the fraction.
gcd(256,100) = 4
Reduce the fraction by dividing the numerator and denominator by the gcd value:
256 / 100 = (256/4) / (100/4) = 64/25
One percent is equal to one hundredth:
1% = 1/100
So in order to convert percent to fraction, divide the percent by 100% and reduce the fraction.
For example 56% is equal to 56/100 with gcd=4 is equal to 14/25:
56% = 56/100 = 14/25
Calculation results will be displayed using fractions, r, and ?. When you press CHANGE, the display will cycle through the following display styles: • Mixed fractions (with or without ?) ? improper fractions (with or without ?) ? decimal numbers • Proper fractions (with or without ?) ? decimal numbers.
To change from fraction to decimal, all it takes is a keypress. (change key) .Not all decimal results (approximations) will be converted to fractions. Anyway, if you want to set the calculator to display decimal results only, Press SETUP Press 2:EDITOR Select 1:LINE.
If the result is already calculated and displayed, press the
[S<=>D] key It will convert a fraction or radical to decimal. This
is always possible. If the result is decimal it may be converted to a
fraction or a radical (Not always possible).
If the expression to
be evaluated is still in the command line and you have not pressed the
[=] key, you can force the result to be displayed in decimal format by
pressing [SHIFT][=] instead of just [=].
More permanently. If you
do n o care for fractions and radicals, set the Input/Outpout mode to LineIO.
To do do press [SHIFT][MODE] to access the (SETUP) screen and select
1) Whenever you want the answer in decimal form, place a decimal after at least one of the numbers. For example: instead of using (1/2) use (1/2.)
2) Press the "Mode" button. Scroll down the list that appears until you find "Exact/Approx". If you set it to "Approximate", then it will always give the answer in decimal form. If you set it to "Exact", it will give the answer in fraction form.
Hello, To convert from fractions to decimals, and from decimals to fractions use the [S<-->D] key. If you want your decimal results to have a fixed number of decimal places press [SHIFT][SETUP][6:Fix]. Screen shows Fix 0~9. Enter the number of decimal places exemple 3. Dans ce cas 1/6 is displayes ase 0.167. Hope it helps.
