Thanks, I downloaded the new iTunes 8 and followed your instructions, I now get to record and save on iTunes. But when I record and happen to be on the phone near the computer, it picks up my conversation and everything else. So I know we are just a click away from being perfect. Suggestion:
1) Use the free version of Revo Uninstaller to uninstall iTunes. https://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html
2) Reboot
3) Run the free version of CCleaner https://www.ccleaner.com/
4) Reboot
5) Make sure your Windows system is supported by the version of iTunes you are installing. Recommend downloading latest version of iTunes from https://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
6) Disable any anti-virus/anti-malware
7) Install iTunes
8) Reboot
9) Enable any anti-virus/anti-m,alware (if not already enabled)
If that doesn't work, create a new Windows profile, and repeat steps 4-9. If iTunes runs in the new Windows profile, your original profile may be the problem - not iTunes.
hi, Check the version of your windows 7. If it is 64bit then it will only support usb devices which can handle 64bit. Try with windows 7 with 32bit. ok
It will need earthing if you are getting hum. As it is used I would replace the entire cartridge and stylus with the best you can afford. Make certain you wire it up right. A good test is with the cartridge removed and your amp on, is to touch each wire (one at a time) with your finger. You should hear a buzz on two wires (one left one right) and nothing on the other two wires (earths). This will help you get the new one connected right.
To solve this Code 10 error, follow these instructions: NOTE: After removing these registry keys and rebooting, it may be necessary to reinstall any CD or DVD recording applications. 1) Close all open programs

4)This
folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry.Look
for any of the following names in the right hand column.

5) If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete 6) After deleting the keys, close the Registry Editor 7) Reboot your computer 8)

Remove itunes from add or remove programs, do a search for itunes on your harddrive and delete all folders with itunes or apple on it. there are probably some files in documents and settings folder that need to be removed.
basiclly the itunes and apple software needs to be fully removed and then reinstalled.
I had exactly the same problem and followed the OP's solution, which worked, but I couldn't hear the track as it was being recorded. So I tweaked the solution. If you do the following, you don't have to keep changing System Preferences as you switch from record to listening:
Go to System Preferences, press the Sound icon, and click on "Sound Effects." Then select the drop down menu and select "Play alerts and sound effects through selected sound output device" rather than the USB choice. Then click on "Output" and select how you want to listen; I used speakers so I selected "Headphones" where the port is "Built-in audio." Then click on "Input" and select the USB choice. Now record a track and you can hear it being recorded through your speakers (or headphones). When it's done recording and after the software transfers it to iTunes, you can play it again through your speakers without going to the preferences panel.
