You can use any MMC or SD card. Be careful not to get SDHC or SDXC cards, they won't work in the A410. The brand doesn't matter, though I'd stick with the major brands, like Lexar, PNY, and SanDisk. The speed doesn't matter much either, so I wouldn't waste money on fast cards.

I put a SD card the camera and came up Memory card error

Are you sure you have an SD card, 2GB or smaller, and not a higher-capacity SDHC card? While SDHC cards will fit into the slot, they will not work with the A410.

I am getting memory card error with canon powershot a410

The A410 works with SD cards. Your 8GB card is an SDHC card and won't work in devices not designed to use them. You need to use SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

My powershot a410 gives me a memory card error what do i need to do? where on a mac can i put the memory card in?

If you're sure that any switch on the side of the card is in the unlocked position, then the camera may simply want you to format the card in the camera. This will erase it so download any pics you want to save first. The easiest way to download to a Mac: create a folder on the desktop...insert the memory card into a card reader and the USB plug into a USB port on the Mac. An icon will appear on the screen, probably named "no name"....Double-click on it and your files will open. Highlight them and drag and drop them into the folder you created. I'm getting memory card locked error using a 8GB SDHC card in my Canon A410 camera. The slider is NOT set to locked

The A410 works with MMC and SD cards. While SDHC cards will fit into the slot, they are electronically incompatible and will not work. You need to use cards 2GB and smaller.

My new memory card is say it locked but lock on card is not locked it is a sd 4g

The A410 works with SD cards. Your 4GB card is actually an SDHC card, not an SD card, and will not work in this camera. You have to use SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

Am looking at a second hand camera canon a410 and the seller says you need a hd card what is this?

I am sure he is referring to an SD (Secure Digital) card. This is a standard memory card for most digital cameras. So after purchasing the camera, you have to buy an SD card to record images.

Camera wont turn on

I just posted that I have this problem as well. Then, after browsing further at Canon's site, I found a possible link between the memory card and the power problem. Sure enough, I popped the memory card out and reinserted it and the camera powered right up. I hope this helps others. . . .
