Buzzing until warmed up

Our Polaroid LCD 37" TV is buzzing each time we turn it on until it warms up. Is there anything that we can do to fix this?

I had the same 37 inch Polaroid buzzing until warmed up problem. It eventially got so bad that we no longer get sound or picture just black screen. TV powers up but won't turn off unless unplugged.

This is caused by a defective capacitor in the power supply board. A very detailed answer is given by stiv0. His solution is for a "no power" or "black screen" condition, but this also fixed my noise on power up. I had noise that went away, but eventually it stayed on all the time. His explanation is correct except in describing how to get the back cover off. He says to take the 3 screws off the back of the black plastic cover on the back and then "pry" up the plastic. Actually if you slide the plastic down about 3/8 inch the cover will lift out easily. I fixed mine today in about an hour.

Hope this helps.

I changed the capacitor on my polaroid lcd tv. It

Hello

Most likely when you disassembled the unit to replace the capacitors you unplugged the screens data cable. When you replugged this you probably didn't get it plugged in correctly or bent some pins.

Good luck

Have to unplug several times to power up

Try the following fix posted by stiv0. It worked for me. It gives detailed instructions how to replace two capacitors that commonly go bad on this TV. It's fairly easy to do and very inexpensive.

37" polaroid lcd tv won't turn on

Here's the fix:

I had the same problem with mine. Replaced the capacitors and now it works. When you open the back of the tv up, the problem is with the 2 capacitors on the upper left of the top card. Mine didn't look damaged except for a very, very slight bulge on the top. If you've never soldered anything, you might want to take it to someone who has, otherwise, it's a pretty simple fix. I was surprised I could do it so easily.

If the warranty is still good, make Polaroid replace it. They make shoddy products and should pay for it. And never buy another Polaroid again.

Clicking and buzzing when turned on takes 30min to 1 hr to come on

The fix to the black screen problem which is posted on Fixya has a pretty good chance to fix this too.If you have a soldering iron it costs less than $10 and will eventually have to be done anyway. The site has very good instructions, just follow them carefully.

Polaroid 37 in LCD TV

There is not a good solution. If you read about the Polaroid 37" LCD HDTV, you have a problem and it's the same one that many of us have. According to Polaroid's service center, the control box needs to be replaced. Polaroid does not stand by this product. The company gives you a lot of lip service about how many they sell and how few problems they have - they're lying. The TV's should be recalled and I'd suggest you join many of us to demand it. Write BBB, write the company where you bought the TV, write any consumer group you can think of - Polaroid TV's are junk. Sorry you've got one. Sounded like a good deal and Polaroid used to manufacture quality - no more.
