I tried to fix a streaking problem & created a disaster. I pulled a few toner & pc units out & blew on them I placed them back & receieved the 84 pc missing message for all 4 colors. I called Lexmark they told me to order all 4 pc units I did & replaced them same message. Tried to clear same message. They tried to send a tech for $750 to my house a new unit w/ shipping is $640. Then yesterday they told me to order a top camshaft cover. WOW I got this thing today & I have to take apart the whole printer. I am scared to start this job especially if it might not work any advice? Lexmark's service team is over seas & the place me on hold fr sevral minutes they seem as lost as me....
Re: 84 yellow PC unit missing (all 4 showing missing)
I had the same problem here and it turned out that I closed the front door of the printer in the wrong way. It is tempting to close the black inner door by hand at first and then close the outer (beige) door. The RIGHT way is to close the beige door and let the inner door being automatically pushed in place by this procedure. All "missing PC unit" warnings disappeared immediately after this.
I hope this solves it for you as well,

i had the same problem and got on a chat with lexmark technical support and they helped me fix it, they referred me here http://i26.tinypic.com/24bj3tw.jpg, make sure those two crank wheels are in the up position, i did that and immediately the printer recognized the pc units and started working, i still had to reset the counts on the pc units, but the printer was instantly functioning
Try to print something, if there is any streaks? If no the problem is in copy glass (dadf or platen glass).
If there is streaks on print also,it could be the drum unit ( pull the drum unit out and see if on drum surface is any black streaks), fixing film is worn out, and in the worst case you have problem with toner unit ( on toner unit you have current leackage ) and you need (in best case) clean the contacts on toner unit, and in more expencive case tochange the toner unit.
Remove all of your toners and clean them off. Replace each one and make sure they are well setted in the unit before going to the next one. Make sure the carosel turns smoothly and nothing is hanging up on the sides. Reboot the whole printer and let it settle for 5 mins before printing. toners come lose sometimes when you turn carosel around. Hope this helps you these printers are a ***** to deal with ,but when they are right there great.
There are 3 things to be checked. 1: toner cartridge, try replacing it with a new on. 2: Transfer roller w/c underneath the toner cartridgelying on the printer. Removed toner cartridge, you see a roller w/c is foam like outlook, wipe it with clean dry lint free cloth or paper towel. 3: Fuser unit w/c fuse the ink on the paper. It is lacoted at the back of the machine.Remove the bottom rear cover, just by pulling it. Then you will see 2 blue color lever on left & right, turn those levers up to unlock the fuser unit, then pull out the unit. taking a look in the inner part of the unit you will see rollers . Any bad coating or damage on the roller will create smears on the prints.
Most of the time when I find this happening on a printer, not just Ricoh's it turns out to be the PCU (photo conductor unit). The color PCU is one unit and the black is a seperate unit. Hope this helps.
