I purchased your amplified talking

I purchased your amplified talking caller id telephone and i put in all the numbers and names under the phonebook, because I was going to hang the phon on the kitchen wall I wanted to enter the info. in place were I would be comfortable - so I entered all the info. and un-plugged the phone to move it the new location and all the info. was gone. Was it because I did not lift the hand set before I un-plugged it. Because if not I have a problem because we have power outages a few times a month and it's a pain just resettin all the clocks and microwave each time. I don't want to have to enter 25 names and number each time.
