If the front axel is too loose you will notice slippage; If the front axel is too tight, it won't turn. Check the jet stream that comes out the rear. Adjust the direction of the jet so that it's at about 11:00 O'Clock -- subtle changes to the direction will make a big difference. On Polaris 280 models, two of the plastic wheels are making contact with the steel driveshaft. The inside of these wheels have teeth to mate up to the gear-like driveshaft. If wheels have been out of adjustment, or sand and gravel has been a problem in the pool, the plastic teeth on the inside of the wheel can break off or wear down. You can rotate the back right wheel, which is not gear driven, up to the front to extend overall wheel life. ------- But if drive shaft is bent or cracked then it has to be inspected and replaced.------- Click this below for more details regarding wheels too tight on Polaris 280 pool cleaner:--- http://howtobyme.blogspot.com/2011/08/how-to-troubleshoot-polaris-280-wheels.html --------- This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

My polaris keeps getting tangled up. How dod I fix this?

If the hose on these pool cleaners is becoming tangled, there are a couple things you will want to check. Remeasure the hose to verify that it is adjusted to the proper length for your pool shape. With the cleaner operating, check that the swivels in the hose and the hose connections turn freely. Make sure the feed hose if floating. Then, with the Polaris turned off, spin each of the wheels. Make sure they are all turning together and adjust if they are not.

My wheels are not turning on polaris 280

Make sure that your thrust jets are properly positioned. You will also want to check for any obstructions in the wheels or axles that would restrict movement. Often with these automatic pool cleaners, one of these two problems is causing restricted movement in the wheels.

Wheels do not turn

There are several things that could cause this. Check to see if you can turn the wheels by hand. You should be able to turn one of them and the rest should turn also. If something is stuck between a wheel and the case it chould prevent turning. A couple of other things could cause this problem. If the jet from the water supply is plugged or disconnected it won't be able to turn the turbine that drives the wheels. If there is a problem in the gears, belts or bearings, shafts, adjustments, the turbine can't deliver the power to the wheels. When this happens I usually inspect the cleaner externally and then open it up with a screw driver and if the drive train works I take the cover off the turbine to inspect it. If you know where the screws are and how the parts come apart it should only take 5 minutes to get apart and a little more to put together. I usually put it back together until I have purchased the defective parts so I don't loose anything. Good luck.

My wheels are not turning on my Polaris 280, what can I do?

When my polaris wheels stopped spinning it was the water jet which spins the turbine was clogged. The in-line filter had failed and some small debris had passed through to clog the jet. Easy fix to take off the top cover then take off the turbine cover and examine /clear the hose (clamped on by zip ties) and the plastic jet.
