If the fan was bad it would take a bit more than 10 minutes for the lamp to be destroyed as the set monitors the temp of the lamp constantly.

I would actually suspect if a genric lamp you got two bad ones OR the Lamp ballast that fires the lamp is bad, ballast is most likely the issue.

Fan issue with hd-52g787 52 inch

The lamp is protected if fan does not work it has a thermal fuse that will cut power to lamp etc.

One of the real issues is the fans intake air from front of set and exhaust it out rear---sets and fans get coated with fine dust and cause problems including in some cases set shutting off.

WD-62531 fan

If the fans aren't operating then the set shouldn't stay on or even turn on. If its the main lamp exhaust fan then you are looking for part number 299P288010. They are relatively easy to replace as they only have a 3 pin connector that will plug into the main board or the power supply. Verify its that fan and as always if you replace it yourself make sure the set is unplugged. Once replaced the back will have to be re-installed or the set will not work as it has a safety switch that detects when the lamp door is off and on.

Please check lamp door that seems not fixed / seated properly. Lamp door / cover push a safety switch that is not being pressed and causing no power up of TV.
