no the ffdshow is for Divx file not AVI and yes I do have player 10 I am wondering if the problem isnt in the software that came with the camera. The original video is no longer on the flash cards

Codec missing, I wonder which codec that is.. Try ffdshow that should cover most of the issues

Please try ffdshow. did you try it?

  • Ekse Sep 10, 2008

ffdshow decodes avi files also, it debends on what encodeing is used on the avi. It may work. or it may not. Give it a try please.

on the original cd you should have the codec thats missing incase ffdshow can't decode it.

This is a codec issue and can be most easily resolved by installing the software and drivers that came with your camcorder. Alternatively, several codec packs are available for download by internet search. Insignia recommends ArcSoft MediaImpression software for editing and playback.

First check sound settings on control panel, ensure volume is not at minimum and computer audio is not muted. Test playing a CD.

this is usually due to Media Player or whatever player you use on your pc, not having the right codecs to decompress sound from camera file.

Usually you sort it out upgrading media player, you can download update from links below.

  1. Windows Media Player 10
  2. Cumulative update for Windows Media Player 11 in Windows Vista

ArcSoft Media Converter

I have a feeling its going to have something to do with what Codecs your converter is using. To the best of my knowledge, the DV150 only supports a certain type of AVI. I'm sorry i can't be more help but i'm not really sure.
