Question about Washing Machines

Washer/dryer combo spin cycle.

My wife put a large rug in our Whirlpool thin twin washer/dryer and now the spin cycle wont engage. the motor runs, the belt operates, and the pumps work but there seems to be a gear or a relay that wont operate the tub. I have dissassembled it as far as I dare( I have removed the inner tub). Is there a skematic on the net somewhere that shows how to remove and install parts?

Thanks Rick: I am having a little difficulty getting the outer barrel off the main shaft. Is there an easier way to get at this bearing. I am still hopeing for a diagram of this machine.

This turned out to be the simplest thing! After I completly tore the whole thing apart I discovered the tip of the safety latch onthe top door had broken off and would not actuate the spin cycle. I am honest to admit this should have been the first thing to check, but no one mentioned this.

How can I fix my whirlpool thin twin washer?

It almost sounds like your motor is kicking out on overload. The fact that it starts agitating after the fill can rule out the pressure switch. You have installed a new timer so we should be able to rule that out. It's possible that your pump is binding, which is attached directly to your motor and causing it to overheat. To tell for sure you would have to check the motor to see if it's getting power when it cuts out. Check your terminal block where the power cord comes in to see if all connections are secure. Other possibilities could be the clutch and brake assy. With out being there too see the problem, this is where I would start.
