I have managed to install the printer for usb connectivity  however when trying to change to wireless on my mac - i am having problems. the instructions given are 1) click HP Device Manager  2) From Info and Settings list choose Network Printer SetUp utility. Once i do this - my computer asks me to enter my admin password.  when i do this the network Utility (bouncing at the bottom) - disappears.  I have tried this a number of times with same result. The instructions say  - Follow onscreen instructions ..."  - but i never get there.  I have tried going to HP website for software update - but it says i have the latest !  can you help/

I, too, am on a Mac. Successfully installed by USB, but cannot connect by wireless. Using the guide, went to HP Device Manager > Information and Settings. Asks me to connect by DHCP and displays IP addresses, subnet masks, etc. Won't let me install without checking DHCP. When I do check DHCP, the apply button is clickable, but when the settings are sent, it says it cannot connect. Reinstalled 3 times, same issues. Help!

My printer will no longer take the paper and it sounds like it is a problem with the roller. what can i do?

You can open the rear access door of the printer and check if roller is broken or not? If that is not broken then you can open top cover and check if any part is broken or damaged. If you see any part is broken then you should buy a new printer.
As you have mentioned that it seems to be hardware problem. I will suggest you to buy a new product because this hp printer is an obsolete printer and are no more supported by HP.
Either you can upgrade this printer with a refurbished printer from hp for a discounted price
or you can buy a new one.
If you are buying an HP printer buy a new one.

Buying option : HP office Jet J4600 series or Office Jet 6400 series as these are the best printers in HP low cost, better functionality, long running, easy to operate and are capable of wireless and USB connection. Easy to install or you can go for any other brand of your own choice.

Can't get it networked on my mac that has windows parallel xp cant find it

Hi
I recognize the importance of resolving this issue and I look forward in providing you with the necessary assistance you need.

Problem: Cannot get network on the Mac not specified
OS : MAC computer Windows installed on it
Printer Office jet 6500 Wireless.

Solution :
There are few thing which are required to know before we start trouble shooting

IMPORTANT : Before you can install the product, your wireless network must already be set up. (To set up your network, follow the instructions that came with your particular access point.)

IMPORTANT : Before you can install the product, you must have the following information about the network:
  • Network name : The network name is the SSID (Service Set Identifier).
  • Password : WEP key or WPA passphrase

For a new product:CD installation is a quick and easy method and if you do not have a CD, you can download the software you need.

CD installation : CD installation might not work if you are installing the product on a computer running a newer operating system that released AFTER the HP product released as the software on the CD is current to the date of the product release.

Downloading the HP Drivers :Downloading the software provides the best results for your older product. Even though it takes more time than using the CD, downloading the latest software can help you avoid installation issues. Downloading is also the recommended method if your computer operating system released after the HP product released. The software that you can download from the HP Web site is the most current software available for your product. HP often updates software and drivers AFTER the product and CD release to the market ..

Wireless installation: If you have not previously installed the software, follow these instructions.
Step one: Prepare for installation
1 Make sure that you have the following requirements before you begin:
  • Network name: The network name is the SSID (Service Set Identifier).
  • WEP key or WPA security passphrase
  • A computer that is connected to the wireless network.
  • Internet access. HP recommends broadband Internet access such as cable or DSL.
  • Your wireless-capable HP product. Place it close to the computer during the installation procedure.
  • A USB cable (used only during installation).
  • Administrator privileges or password
2. Make sure the product, access point, and computer are all on, and that the computer is connecting to the wireless network.
3. Connect the USB Cable to the rear port of the HP product and to any USB port on the computer.
4. Exit all applications running on your computer.Install the software
To install the product software, follow the steps for the method that you want to use (CD or download).
Method one: Install the software with the software CD
  1. Insert the Macintosh product CD into the CD drive of the computer.
  2. Double-click the HP software disc icon that displays under the Xp/Macintosh HD icon.
  3. Double-click the HP Installer icon. The HP Installer program opens.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to start the installation.
  5. When prompted to set up your device and software, select Continue .
  6. If a check mark does not appear, select Configure your device for a wireless network , and then select Continue.
  7. Follow the on-screen instructions to finish installing the software
Option two: Change connection type
1. Open HP Device Manager.
2. From the Information and Settings drop-down menu, click Setup Assistant . 3. The HP Setup Assistant window opens.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to change your connection type to an existing wireless network.

My computer won't recognize (wirelessly) to my HP Deskjet

I'm sure you've tried installing the software with the printer detached...but if you haven't, that's the first thing. Another thing that's really common is that Vista may want to install its own drivers and they may not be compatible. Go into device manager (start-menu, right click on "computer", go to properties). Click on the hardware tab and let's get into device manager from there. Look for a yellow symbol with a ! in it. You can update drivers from there, navigating to the disk that you installed from...you'll likely see something that says "drivers" and either Vista or XP (If there's no Vista, try XP drivers anyway. Hope that works...

My wireless will not connect to my macbook

First two are mentioned here,
1. wireless
2. usb
if you are using a USB cable to connect, first you have ensure that is system is working perfectly and turned on, secondly make sure u have the printer turned on after proper connection with your usb to your computer from the printer, this is suppose to pop up a message demanding for printer driver installation.
If it does not respond, you have to check your USB port on your system or the USB cable. check these i believe one will certainly work for you. thanks gud luck.

No scan options- HP Office jet 5610v

Ok - the reason this error pops up is because there is a software issue going on. If the software is correctly installed you will see options for where the scan will go in the computer.

Having said that there are several things that can cause a problem between the printer and the software;

1) You are connecting the printer by USB to router - you may print but will never be able to scan as this is not a networkable printer. Connect it directly to your computer and recomplete the setup portion to configure the scanner.

2) You have not finished the setup. At the end of the installer you can setup the scanner but if you skipped this step you will have to redo it in order for it to connect. Click on the device manager in your dock and then next to information and settings there will be a little wheel. Click on the wheel and go to setup assistant. Complete the assistant and try to scan.

3) The printer is not grabbing the new software options - leave the printer turned on but unplug the power cord and wait for 30 seconds. Plug printer back in - when you do this it should initialize and will look to the mac for changes and the options should load.

4) Software missing - You MUST have the software for the printer installed for scanning function. Adobe and other programs cannot replace it - it has to be installed.

5) Software is corrupted. Uninstall the software (uninstaller is under applications in the HP folder) and then download and install the most recent full feature software and drivers for your operating system.

6) If all these steps fail you may have an issue with your computer and it's TWAIN drivers.

Printer won't print.

Hi,

If the cable you are using is USB.

Try these steps.

1.Right click on MY computer ->Properties->Hardware->Device manager.

2.You will get Device manager window popping out.

3.Scroll down to "Universal Serial BUS controllers".Click on the (+) sign.

4.Check for the "USB Composite Device" and right click on it, click Uninstall.(IMPORTANT NOTE:WE HAVE TO UNINSTALL THE PRINTER'S USB COMPOSITE DEVICE, TO KNOW WHETHER IS THE PRINTER'S USB COMPOSITE DEVICE, RIGHT CLICK ON USB COMPOSITE DEVICE AND PROPERTIES,look for what location says, Eg -LOCATION : HP Office jet 7400)

5.Disconnect the USB and reboot the PC.

6.Connect the USB after reboot, you will get pop up "Found new hardware".Then the Drivers will be installed Automatically.

Thanks
