    thanks.
i ended up talking to a local repair person over the phone, and figured out that the black plastic bobbin case had chipped slightly at the spring, causing it to wobble. so i ordered a new one, and hopefully this will solve the problem.

The needles on my Pfaff 788 are making rows of stitches but the loops aren't working. I've threaded and rethreaded help.

So, the top thread is not picking up the bobbin thread.

First, install a brand new needle. If that doesn't help, your machine may have been knocked out of time. Take it for service.

Hi, I have a PFAFF Hobby 420 sewing machine. Its motor is not working and there is no service centre of PFAFF in our city. Could you please guide me opening the motor??

Maybe it just needs new carbon brushes. My Bernina 830 Record resembles the Pfaff very closely. I had issues with the motor stuttering. Changed the carbon brushes and it runs like a top!

If you have cleaned & lubricated the machine as indicated in your manual and the problem continues, the machine needs to go into the shop for professional service.

Pfaff tiptroni6122, the thread loops up on the bottom of material

Sounds like the hook timing is off. You don't need a new hook but you may need a new position finger. If you are unfamiliar with working on sewing machines then it needs to go to the shop. This is a great machine and is worth keeping up. Pfaff doesn't make the all metal hook anymore which is a shame.

good luck!

Bottom (bobbin thread) makes loops

I don't have the same brand as yours, but on my machine there is a little screw on the bobbin case that you tighten to increase the bobbin tension. If you've got one, turn it 1/8 to 1/4 turn at a time.

Pfaff sewing machine hobby 850? from 1986...

Try installing a brand new needle. A bent/dull needle will frequently not pick up the bobbin thread.

If a new needle doesn't help, then most likely the machine has been knocked out of time (the needle and hook are out of sync). You can search for sewing machine timing to see if you want to try to fix it yourself or take it for service. Timing is usually affected when a needle hits something hard (like a pin, the needleplate or a hard seam of fabric) and is deflected
