I would also like to know how to open the Altec Lansing ATP3 speaker. The one I'm interested in is the satellite speaker with the volume knobs. I can't find any screws anywhere (there are no stickers to hide under, they're not under the rubber feet in the bottom, and they're not behind the netting on the front of the speaker). If anyone has opened this speaker before, I'd really appreciate your assistance.

    Thanks,

    Mark

    Hi,
The Best Solution posted here doesn't help me at all. I have the same problem in opening the satellite speaker with the volume knobs from the Altec Lansing ATP3 system. The volume is unstable and I suspect the volume knob to be defective. There are no screws anywhere you look and there is no removable net (all is plastic in one piece, except the cover under the speaker). I tried to pull out the cover under the speaker by force but if I would force more I could brake it. Does any of you already open this speaker, please?
    Many Thanks,
    Liviu

Just sone it, i had to break a whole in the bottom part , work my way around it with a screwdriver , it will snap every 2-3 cm and come off in the end.
after its off start at the (now exposed) bottom of the front bit and work your way up and aroud `till it comes off. mind the wires . as for the volume button fix , as soon as i played with it and tried it again , everything was good. even though replacing it doesn`t seem like a big deal
put it back together and will superglue it in the future( while typing this i doubt if it will ever happen), and it lookes good( except from the bottom ,where its broken !).
now the button is solid and the sound as well.

Hi i used to have the same problem opening the satellite speakers of atp3 (left satellite, the cord was pulled and snap from the inside). i found out how to open them but there's a good and bad news. the good news is i know how to open them, the bad news is that it will cause some damage on your satellite speaker.a friend of mine used to have the same speaker he accidentally drop one of his satellite speaker (left one) and the bottom cover just crack open following the joint line.
the satellite speakers of atp3 has no connecting screws , it is assembled using a sort of super glue. here is how i opened my satellite speaker.
i used a flat screw driver (i sharpened it a bit to easily penetrate the joint) to shove the bottom cover of the speaker starting from the back part (near the cord) then slowly made my way around when the cover start to snap from where i started. you can remove the bottom cover this way but be aware that it will cause some damage on you speaker. i started shoving from the bottom back part because the damage is unnoticed when you reassemble it using a super glue and i use a black paint to hide the discolored plastic casing cause by force opening.

i hope this help a bit

SOURCE: how to repair atp3 altec lansing

Best bet would be to just strip the wire with a wire stripper or utility knife and twist the bare ends together to fix the connection. A little electrical tape around those wires and you should be almost good as new. Of course you might notice some difference in quality but I'm pretty sure the only way round that would be replacing the cable.

Try it out and let me know how it works out for you. If you know how to solder it might be a good idea to solder the connection as well.
