Since it doesn't work you might as well take it apart and look around.....chances are the connection got fouled up remember that the newer these game consoles get the more harm small **** like dust and smoke will cause.....so first and foremost make sure you clean your ps3 every week to keep dust out of it and keep it away from a high heat spot or a spot with high dust levels.....make sure its in a very open area and if you cannot achieve this spend the 30 bucks and buy a nykko intercooler for it to filter dust out and keep it nice and cool

with that being said it seems like heat damage....use this guide http://www.llamma.com/PS3/repair/PS3_disassembly_tutorial.htm and take it apart to see what you can find, check for anything that doesn't look normal and make sure that the soder on the circuit for the eject/power on button didn't melt away....the PS3 gets EXTREMELY hot and despite having a fan the size of your fist it isn't nearly enough to keep this bad boy cool....heat damage will mostly be unrepairable but if you can isolate the specific part that is malfunctioning you can also replace it fairly cheaply and at home....just don't let your ps3 run for extended periods of time if you want to keep it for more than 2 months

When I hooked up my PS3 to several TVs and tried to turn it on, the green light came on to show that it was running, but nothing would happen on the monitor. I tried both the HDMI and Red Yellow and White...

You can try resetting the display settings. What you need to do is plug in the input that you would like to use, whether it is the HDMI cord or your composite cable, and then press and hold the power button. It will beep once when it turns on, then continue to hold it and it will beep 3 times. Once it has beeped 3 times, you can release the power and it should start up with the input working just fine. If not I would suggest getting a hold of Sony to try their troubleshooting techniques and possibly getting your console repaired.

PS3 turns on but nothing comes up on the screen/no sound.

First thing to try is a video reset.

While the PS3 is off (red solid light) hold down the power button until you hear the SECOND beep, quickly release the power button.

Let me know what happens.

Theres a wave going across the tv screen whenever my ps3 three is on i tried different av cables a new power cord and nothing helped

has nothing to do with your tv or ps3 or xbox ive had this problem and fixed it...you are simply running to many things in the house or on that specific circut at once and the ps3 and tv are not getting enough juice.

My ps3 wont turn on help

try unplugging the power cord from the ps3 and putting it back on. if that doesnt work, your console might have kicked a breaker in your homes breaker box. on the ps3, always turn it off by the the back power switch.

When i turn my ps3 on,red light goes green then red right away

Try disconnecting your PS3 and then for 10 seconds if that doesn't work, disconnect all jackets meaning all usb connection ports connected in it. Remove them, then turn on your ps3 see what happens (without using the controller), then disconnect the ps3 cord that connects to your extension cord or jacket and plug it back in. Try it again. Then again with the controller could try. Try disconnecting other ports such as other stuff like as listed, Irons,Fans, etc.           !!!!!!DON'T USE TOO MUCH POWER!!!!

The Same thing happened to me on my Wii though.

If nothing works call Customer Support (SONY)

Powers on but nothing happens

It happened to me too. When you plug in your av cables and are ready to play, follow these steps. With your PS3 off (Red light on), Press and hold the power button on your console. (Do not use the controller to turn it on.) Keep holding the button until you hear a second beep. (it takes about 2 to 3 seconds.) You will notice your screen flickers, then your PS3 will show up on the tv. All you did was reset the PS3 display settings. You can always go back to HDMI or AV cables. Have Fun.
