Hello evilchick225 ,
The issue which you are facing is due to the addonswhich got installed on internet explorer.
To resolve the issue perform the following steps on the notebook:
1. Open Internet explorer window. 2. Click on Tools > Internet options. 3. Select "programs" tab. 4. Click on "Manage Add-ons". 5. Disable all the add-ons by selecting each add on. 6. Click on Apply and click OK.
Reset the Internet explorer:
1. Open Internet explorer window. 2. Click on Tools > Internet options. 3. Select "Advanced" tab. 4. At the bottom of window click on "Reset" and "Restore Advanced Settings" buttons. 5. Click on Apply and click OK.

Driver could be corrupt. Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off.
I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with
the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the
printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud
Open Internet Explorer Click on Tools Click on Internet Options Click on Advanced on the Top and under the browsing category you will see an option for : "Enable Third party browser extensions" Un check it and click on apply and OK Then close the browser and restart Internet explorer This might fix the problem....
Internet explorer is unable to handle many windows open at the same time.
My suggestion is to use Mozilla Firefox which can be downloaded for free which is safer and has much fewer errors than IE. Please update me on the situation and what internet browser you are using and I will work with you until the problem is fixed.
You didn't tell what IE version you're using.Incase IE6 then what I recommend is to uninstall and reinstall it back. For IE6 go up to add or remove program under control panel.Select under Add remove Windows component. You sould see Internet explorer there.
If your system wasn't set up to do MS Auto-update from the factory, I recommend you use it.
It is likely that the IE and possibly other Windows functions need one of the hundreds of tweaks MS constantly makes to try to keep their Edsel working properly.
Open your Control Panel from the misnamed 'Start' menu, click on Automatic Updates and check (or set) your settings.
BTW, lots of luck with your Compaq/HP laptop; I won't own another one nor service any HP system again.
