Question about Canon EOS-AE-1 35mm SLR Camera
I was given a Canon AE1 and put new film and a new battery in and the shutter will depress but nothing happens. However, when the film is advanced it will take a picture. Any ideas?
The magnets that control the shutter are the likely suspect. Dirt and debris can cause them not to hold properly. Hence, it fires the shutter when you advance the film. It is something you can repair yourself. I can describe the procedure if you are interested.

I am interested. I was having the same problem, but now I'm having problems after I advance it and try to take a picture, it does shutter. It usually works after a few minutes and i try to take the picture again.
