Both the refrigerator and freezer has stopped cooling, with the refrigerator going out first and then the freezer getting noticeably warmer a few days later. The refrigerator still seems to be working....

Hello woolcocky - Do you hear anything running in the machine compartment? Does the compressor kick on and off? If it is not, contact a certified technician immediately, sounds like the refrigerator may be experiencing a coolant leak or an issue with the internal sealed system.

Was cooling for like 2 hrs then stoppped i hear

Jeff if you are up to it I can help you find the problem and very possibly resolve the problem, I will return with contact and links if I can find the model listed, Hang in there, First unplug and remove front cover. Then we need to find the start capacitor and eliminate it from the windings. I have much more if you would like toy approach this. Tell me the age of AC and its voltage. If you are going to save money and that is the reason the repairs to kitchen it would be wise to use a 220 voltage AC. That depends on your local voltage and the plug style or country you live in. I have tried to help some people not realizing their voltage. Please do not leave plugged in, as it may damage the internal overloasd inside of the compressor. I will be back, Sea Breeze

Check the connection between the starting capacitor and the Start "S" of the compressor it should be connected and also the "cool light" other wire is also connected with it.

Outside ac compressor not kicking on when ac turned on

Most of the time the capasitors are bad but it could be that the commpressor is bad or if it is a heatpump the low pressure switch could have it locked out or the contactor could be bad also

Our refrigerator/freezer will stop working (not cool or freeze) then days later will begin to work again.

If you have already tried shutting off for 24 hrs. (reset), cleaning the under-bed condenser fins (vacuum and/or compressed air) and the issue still continues, you may be lucky enough to just need a relay/overload switch; the thingy connected to the compressor, which by the way takes patience and ease in removing. However, once the plastic cover is off, simply unplug the relay switch(s) and shake it, if you hear rattling (or) smell burn, the relay is toast and thus needs replacement. Simple enough, for replacement type in the model # of the compressor: (i.e.) [[ Embraco FGS 80 with relay/overload switch ]] cost around ($30-$50)... order, replace, re-plug, and if on target, the compressor will kick in. let run for 24 hours before adding foods, and all is good. Have a nice day. ee
