Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

Im not sure what brand my washing machine is, because Im at work, but it is a common problem that i have had with other machines. It is as if the inside is off track. I have a top load washing machine, pretty standard and I want to know how to fix this problem and maybe if there is a way to fix it where it never happens again.

How old is the washer?

My machine is saying no and is not spinning

The most common mechanical causes for a Front Load Washing Machine not spinning are the Door-Lock, Water Pump, Motor or Motor Drive Unit.

MostCommonReasonsaFrontLoadWashingMachineWon'tSpin: Depending on the brand the solutions will vary. In our years of front load washing machine we suggest this 3-step diagnosis:
  1. Open the door and determine if the machine has water in it. If there is water inside the machine the pump may be clogged. Some brands have a trap that is easily accessible and can be cleaned out with relative ease.
  2. Inspected that circuit panel of your home and see if the breaker has tripped. Reset the breaker see if the washer starts to spin.
  3. Make sure HE soap is being used. If not remove the clothes, place liquid fabric softener and restart the machine using the cold water setting.

I'm not sure of the brand of the washing machine you have, however here are some tips from the LG site for common causes:

Not sure if this will help... If you could give the brand and model number that may help!

Our LG wash machine is 4 years old. The first service man changed a sensor in the motor windings. This was 2 months ago. ($164.) Now the motor overload code came on many times. The second guy was here...

you need to make sure the guys that are working on it are lg service technicians this means they do all there warranty work & they go to lg factory training & learn about the new models & fault codes as they come out each year OE error can mean different things on different models phone lg there technical support is the best out of all the major manufactures.lg australia is 1.3% of there market so there guys learn from the best all over the world im sure you can find an answer here.i would suggest to them that they pay for any more parts required to repair the machine even though it is out of warranty they still MIGHT help. you have a better chance with lg than any other brand once repaired properly they can last up to 20 years if looked after.lg is great brand there value for money & they are always trying to improve.
im a former lg service technician by the way as well as many other brands. it probably needs to be rewired it is the connections causing the errors to come up & if not the pcb/computer might need replacing.

BRand new installation of 1 year old machine we

hi,

I am a novice at front loaders but it sounds like it needs new suspension parts, namely springs, sounds like the machine had a hard life before you got it. since its used anyways it cant hurt to take the back off and see and study how it works and how the drums suspension works. you can try to find the springs at an appliance store. Im not sure if you can get springs directly from LG. LG's are a pretty good name brand, probably worth fixing..
good luck!

Aquarius 1300 spin trips residual circiur breaker

Hello

There can be two possible reasons for it triping..

Firstly what im pretty sure it is, the motor... either your motor is faulty or your carbon brushes are worn... Im saying this because when the motor has to work at its hardest during the sping cylce it just cannot cope..

The other thing could be is that the drum has play within it and when spining quickly it is cathing the heating element probably already damaged it and therefore triping.

There your most likely faults

hope this helps.

The motor is located at the at the back on the bottom of the drum.
the heater is located at the back on the bottom of the drum .

Most likely is will not be the heater as it is more common on the older hotpoints.. But i thought id mention it

Hope this helps......
