Re: camera screen

Does the screen isn't working either when you record and when you play tapes? if you record a tape and you play it on another camera, does it look good? if both answers is "yes", chances are screen is faulty. however, if screen doesnt work (remains blue or black) only when playing tapes but functions well while recording, it may be solved by using a cleaning cassette.

Black screen problem

A lot of people that bought the first generation HD1 have had a problem whereby the LCD screen goes black, but the date, image size, old pictures etc. still shows up on the screen, so it's not the screen itself malfunctioning.

This especially a problem if Sanyo refuses to honor your warranty because, like me, you bough the HD1 early on eBay and thus they claim you're not the first owner, and therefore they don't have to honor the warranty.

I had this problem too. It's caused by grease on the iris curing (setting) and jamming it locked. The motor that opens the iris when you turn the camera on isn't powerful enough to overcome it, hence the black screen.

There's a tutorial online somewhere about how to fix it yourself. But if you're like me and not that good at that sort of thing take it to a local camera repair shop and get them to fix it. Tell them what the problem is and that you need them to clean the iris blades. Emphasize you don't want them to grease them afterwards, just leave them dry and clean. The guy i took it to was very unsure when i told him all this but told me I was 100% right when i picked my camera up, and that cleaning the iris blades had fixed it.

It's been 4 months since I had it fixed/cleaned, and it's being working great every since.

PS. There's a strong suggestion Sanyo knew about this when they shipped it but shipped it anyway. It's not been proven one way or the other, but I personally will never buy a Sanyo product again.

Hello! I have a very old Sharp VL-H860 camcorder. We don't use it much, but yesterday we were trying to watch old videos on the camcorder, and it won't play. It makes a strange buzzing noise, the screen...

I also have one and it works great but I don't have the audio/video adapter on the side so I cant view my films on TV. I would be interested in your camcorder or maybe vise versa? Regards, Pete

Horizontal bands appear on the lcd screen during playback

Can you tell if it is recording them that way as well?

It sounds like it needs a head adjustment. That can be done at any camera store.

Zoom not working E61:10

Zoom motor in camera lens mechanism is stuck due to **** etc. You need to open camera, take out camera lens section and check zoom motor.

Do the above if you know basic electronics and have little experience of camera repair.
If don't, contact Sony Service to fix the camera.

Playback static

Your video heads are probably dirty. I have the same problem with mine too. If you buy a 8mm video cassette cleaner, it should work. Unless there is some other problem.

Recording stopped working

Beleive the CCD has stopped responding. A cheap way to verify this is to point an infrared remote towards the lens and press a key. This will usually provoke a response from the camera even if all else fails, barring a bad pickup device...accordianman

you just need to match up the colors of the cables on both the camera and the DVD Player. Also, make sure that you plug the cables into an input on the DVD Player, and that The DVD player is tuned to that input usually accesed before channel 3 or by pressing input on the remote
