If you can go to [start] then right click on [computer] then [manage] then [device manager] ... Ok there should be keyboards listed & a little + or arrow next to it... Click on it then find HID keyboard device... Right click on it and UNINSTALL it! Then once uninstalled RESTART system... Should be repaired.

How do you unlock the keyboard

Is it that the keyboard is locked so no keys work, or is the touchpad locked so that the mouse pointer does not move?

I've seen more and more people locking the mouse pointer. If that's the case there might be a button to push that is at the top of the touchpad in the middle that toggles it on and off. Also on some brands, you will have to hit either the FN or ALT key and hold it down while you hit the F1 thru F12 key that controls the touchpad. Usually the correct key to press will have the icon of a finger in a square box representing the touch pad.

Unlock keyboard for a Acer AS7540-1284

The Keyboard is locked? Or do you mean maybe the mouse pointer is locked? Look on your keyboard and see if you see anything that resembles a mouse touch pad. Some systems will lock the touch pad, but it can be unlocked by hitting a combination of keys, such as holding the FN key + the key with the touchpad icon.

Hi wa33ban2hart

Question: "Some letters on my keyboard result in the wrong character. This problem showed up weeks after purchase. Initially it was working fine".

You've done unbelievably well to type an error-free, letter-perfect question, despite the character confusion.

This is a very strange problem to have on a desktop keyboard (Dynex Keyboard and Mouse), since the way to achieve the above sentence as you have written it, is to use the Fn and NumLk keys, on a laptop keyboard, to enable buttons with multiple functions to print their alternative characters designated to them.

Desktop keyboards do not usually have Fn keys and the NumLk key on a desktop keyboard locks and unlocks the Number Pad on the right of the keyboard, which usually has no alternative letter values on its keys.

Solution: Press and hold the Fn (Function) key on your keyboard > press the NumLk (Number Lock) key (usually F10, F11 or F12) > release both keys > test keys J, K, L, U, I, O etc. again.

That should resolve your problem.

I hope this helps.

How to unlock the key pad on a dell latitude D600 laptop

Hi. Please do troubleshooting steps below:

1. Check to be sure your "Number Lock" or "Function Lock" keys aren't lit. These can lock out certain parts of your keyboard. If either of these is lit, press them to unlock the locked portion of your keyboard. These can be found at the top right on a laptop and between the number pad and main keys on a desktop keyboard.

2. Save all open programs using your mouse. Use your mouse to restart your computer. This will only work if your computer isn't frozen. If your mouse doesn't move, press the power button on your Dell until the computer turns off. Press it again to restart. If the issue was lack of memory or a locked program, this will unlock your keyboard. Continue to Step 3 if the keyboard is still locked.

3. Shut down your computer using your mouse or power button. Don't restart. Unplug your Dell.

4. Remove the battery if you're using a laptop by turning the laptop over and sliding the battery release latch. Slide the battery out and replace after one minute.

Have a good one!

  • Step 2 Save all open programs using your mouse.
  • Step 3 Shut down your computer using your mouse or power button. Don't restart. Unplug your Dell.
  • Step 4 Remove the battery if you're using a laptop by turning the laptop over and sliding the battery release latch. Slide the battery out and replace after one minute.

Internal mouse will not move and lights are red/orange

this might be a problem with the mouse lock..
check ur mouse lock button just above the mouse pad.
if its locked, unlock it & try again.

if its not locked, then go to device manager via right clicking My Computer, properties
select mouse device & expand the tab
uninstall the mouse, dont worry it can be done without mouse.
now press the windows key from keyboard, and restart ur system via pressing Start key, +u, +r for windows Xp & for Windows Vista, press ALT+F4 then select restart.

After ur machine boots up, it will automatically detect the mouse & reinstall the required drivers. its done

if u like my post, pls rate me.. i really need some good ratings..
