Question about Maytag MER6772 Gemini Electric Kitchen Range
Hello, The bake setting stopped working the other day. I opened oven to see that bake element was melted mostly on right (if looking into oven) 2/3 of unit. I replaced with new element. It still is not working. I measured resistance of new element; it is 16.8 ohms. I opened up the back of oven to expose wiring, everything looks good; no burned wires, no wires appear disconnected. We are having relatives over this weekend so I am in big trouble with the wife if I dont get it fixed. Any help is super appreciated.
I had the same problem on a Maytag Gemini Model MER6770ACW. The lower bake element blew up (shorted and melted). Replaced it with a new element from Maytag. The element does not work. No electricity at the element's terminals when the oven is turned on. The best advise I got so far is that the control panel is damaged from the voltage surge. (Replacement cost is about $300)
the bake element can melt for various reasons, however, i think that you problem lies somewhere else.
here is the service manual. have a look through it and let me know if i can be of more help.

Hello kimberlymaso - If you are referring to the bake element, but the broil element works then you would need to just replace the bake element. If both your bake and broil element does not work, then there might be a problem with the wiring communication. However, if the oven does not bake and/or broil but the cook top works; contact a professional to diagnose the EOC (electronic oven control).
