When you flip the button to "camera" to start the recording process everything seems to be working....EXCEPT..........the screen shows the camera to be on "pause" mode and will not let me start the recording process

I have the same camera with the same problem. I think there is dust or chocolate milk (my kids use this camera, too) in the button mechanism. I have tried to clean it but no luck. The bright side is that you can use the cameras' remote to get the camera to record. It's a pain to carry the remote around, but at least I can still use the camera.

Hold the red button down for a couple of seconds on the right side of the camcorder.  Does the pause go away?

Sony Handycam CCD-TRV37 8mm Analog... 2 Problems, maybe more unknown at this time:

This does require disassembly to remedy the problem. There are various possible fixes. The most prevelant I have seen is cold solder connections of the board connector for the fpc cable from the top operation switch block ass'y. All you need is someone who can handle this task, like a professional. The controls that you are experiencing problems with are all linked with one cable and connector. One bad solder joint can cause serveral operation faults. Good Luck, magic seadog

HELLO, MY CANNON ZR 100 IS STUCK IN PAUSE MODE

This is most likely due to a failed Pause / Play switch and can be repaired fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired by a qualified service technician.

My name is Rick and I'm a professional repair technician with over 20 years in the business and have repaired many of these. I'm semi retired and work from home with little overhead so I can keep repair costs low. If you decide to have the camera repaired, please click HERE for a directory listing that suits your needs.

You're right, you can't pause it; at least not that I can find. However, the "stop" kind of acts like a pause, because ... if you stop recording and then start it up again, even though it records as two different videos, you can easily add them together in "edit"mode, which is basically the same thing as pausing.

Remove the battery.   Wait 10 seconds.  Put it back in and see if that resets it.
