Signal strength I have a D-Link DI-624 that I have had for a couple of years and I have always been able to get a signal upstairs until about a week and half ago. Now I can only get a signal when I am in the same room. Nothing has changed to my knowledge. Can you please help.

You should also look into the short package preamble option that the 624S has. See set up manual for more details. Also, I added an Airlink 101 7db antenna (see to my 624S and that helps me get right across all rooms in my house. Problem also is now that I pick up all my neighbours wireless networks so I changed the preamble option to short bursting and I think I've now got better reception through the house - well less dropped packed and slighter fast response times.

A few possibilities are new cordless phone, a new wireless router next door, a new cell tower put up near your house. There may be a break in the antennae, try another antennae, they are fairly interchangeable between routers if you have a friend with a wireless router.

Signal strength very low when down stairs

move the router to the room above the downstairs place of required access and this should solve your problem

transmission of good clear signal is determined by the buildings cosmetic makeup,ie wood seems to be easier for the signals to tranmit thru compared to steel and concrete

Hope thhis helps ,Cheers MISTERDJ

DI-624 always lost connection after use about 10mins. to 20 minutes

There are a few things that can cause you to lose wireless connection with your wireless router.
1. Weak signal strength, check the signal strength on your wireless card. If it is weak move the wireless router away from walls and if possible locate the wireless router higher up.
2. Have you secured your wireless router from people near your from unauthorized access? ie. change the default password, setup encryption use WPA2 or WPA, change the default SSID, and turn off SSID broadcast, and for added protection, enable MAC address filtering which allows only the MAC address/es of your wireless card/s to connect to your wireless router.
3. You could be getting interference from electrical sources such as air conditioners, arid welders, washing machines etc. If so the power supply to the wireless routers and computers etc should be connected to a surge protection power board, better still connect your computer equipment to an UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply)
4. Check the channels of the wireless routers and access points in your area and change the broadcast channel on your wireless router to an unused channel or one that is currently used but has the weakest signal strength. This will minimize interference with your wireless router from other wireless routers and access points in your area.

D link dir 615. Weak signal, router is put on main floor, but we are only getting 2 bars on the computer upstairs, and almost no signal in the basement. How can we improve the signal or do we have the wrong...

Try turning the router 90 degrees, and measure the strength.
Turn it another 90 degrees, and measure again.

Move to a house with wood cross-beams, instead of metal cross-beams inside the first-floor ceiling.

Rotate the upstairs computer 90 degrees, and measure again.

Buy a "Wireless N" router, for greater signal strength.

D-link DI-624 wireless router connectivity problems (DNS suffix)

Might I suggest that you reset the router to its default configuration by pressing and holding the reset button until it reboots. This way you will be dealing with the default configuration. Then try to use it. Remember the default login ID is admin and the password is Password or admin. Lets hope this helps
