Saeco Digital Italia steam knob

I have a two year old Digital Italia, recently the knob that you turn to steam or prime popped out and when I try to shove it it the pressure pops it back out. Now I can't even pull shots because it says it needs to prime but I can't prime it. How can I fix this?

Hi,

Take off the top and you will see the steam valve, try to mount the parts again.

Best regards

Is there a particular part that you know might prevent this from working? I would like to know what might be causing this so when i take the top off, I would like to make sure it works when I put it together. Thanks in advance.

My Saeco Digital Italia stream/hot water wand quit working. When I press stean and turn the knob it pops out (not off) and nothing comes out. Hot water also want come out.

Push in on the knob when it pops out if that works then the steam valve assembly needs to be replaced, ask for the stainless steel valve replacement.

Flashing lights on my saeco italia espresso machine

I had the same problem, two green flashing lights with one red (water) all 3 would just keep flashing and not turn solid. No coffee can be made or hot water. I could not pump prime. The problem was the steam wand was blocked with old milk residue. It needs unblocking or you will never pump prime. I could not unscrew the steam wand...so I let it sink in a glass full of hot water for a few minutes and then turned the water knob counter clockwise to push out the softened residue. After that, everything was good. When water started flowing out of the steam wand, the red light turned off and the green lights turned solid. The obvious answer to why you can't pump prime is there is a blockage somewhere and best to start with the steam wand. --Mabada

Our Saeco italia has an error message: Need to prime. but it will not prime when water knob is turned on...

i had this same problem and it turns out a small mineral deposit was lodged in the water line, right before it went in to the second heater (to make steam). The cost to repair and shipping was pretty high, so i fixed it myself and it's not too hard. You can try de-scaling. If you want take the water line apart, let me know and I'll walk you through it.

Saeco Digital Italia Fix

I had this same issue with my machine and unfortunately I had to send the machine back for repair. The steam knob should pop right back on, if positioned correctly. The people (Starbucks, Saeco) whom you spoke to were correct, that there is build up of steam (or back pressure) it will cause the knob to pop of in these conditions. The root cause of this problem is most likely (as in my case) that you steam wand is clogged. Even if you keep it cleaned externally, there may still be debris that builds up INSIDE the wand. To correct the problem, take some wire (we used decorating craft wire) that will fit into the end of steam wand. Push the wire as far up as you can and continue to move back and forth. Flush the wand either with steam or hot water and repeat several times. I do this every month or so to keep the debris from building up inside the wand. Good luck and I hope this works for you.

Saeco italia error

What happens when you open the knob on the right? It may just need priming.
