Hp Director is not working and I cannot scan from the printer/scanner

    I can now scan from the machine but,HP Director still refuses to perform in any way.

HI can you please uninstall the HP software

  • unistall the software
  • Make sure to shut down the printer and remove the usb cable or printer cable
  • Then I would suggest that you do a reinstall
  • try also to change the usb port to a different port (if you are using usb)
  • make sure in the control panel that your printer is checked as the default printer
  • then if all this still go to the Link that was provided to you and type in your Model and go in the support page
  • Then drivers and update
  • make sure to download the Operating System that you are using

It will be better for you to uninstall the software from your computer and install the latest one from HP web site and that should fix this concern....

Did you try to check your manual about this? by the way try your printer in different OS like XP.

. Did some hunting on the HP and MS web sites. Found a "work around". Not what I wanted but at least I can scan. I think HP Director is gone for Vista users. :(

Scanning with Windows Photo Gallery
1. Click the Start ( ) icon.
2. Click All Programs .
3. Click Windows Photo Gallery .
4. Click File and then click Import From Scanner or Camera .
5. Click Import .
6. Click Scan .

    you can either scan through paint or windows fax and scan

    just re-installed the driver and it works.

    I downloaded the trial of VueScan, which worked perfectly to get the scanner working. The benefit is it doesn’t install any extra guff like the HP software.

    Try to uninstall and install again the software, just be sure that you completely uninstall and removed the already installed software before you install a new and fresh HP director..

You should uninstall the software and reinstall it fresh. You should also download the newest version available on HPs website instead of the one on the CD that came with your machine to ensure that you are using the newest version.

How do i use my scanner


If you have loaded the software for the printer/scanner.
Go to your HP director Icon and start this program.
you should see your Scanner / printer listed under Select device.

You can place a document/picture in the document feeder on top.
OR you can place the document / picture directly on the glass.
(Lift the hinged lid to reveal the scanner glass)
Don't worry the document feeder uses a different scan wand.
Now document / picture in place select the Scan document or Scan picture icon from the HP director. Depending on which type of document you have placed in / on the scanner.

Scanner should warm up then scan presenting you with a preview image. From here you can decide what and where to go.

You are not limited to just the HP director.
Other applications can use the twain source to activate your scanner software. This will transfer the scan to your application.
Irfanview is a prime example. Image viewer that will let you "Acquire" and image from you scanner. Be sure to select the twain source.

Can't use scanner on computer


Were you able to download the driver from HP?

I would suggest unplugging the scanner, uninstalling the program, reboot, reinstalling the program and then plugging the scanner back in

Several ways to control your scanner:

Changing scan settings in HP Director

Scan settings include resolution, output type, and file type. These settings can be changed using HP Director.
  1. Open HP Director, if it is not already open:
    • Windows 2000: Click Start , click Programs , point to HP , and then click HP Director .
    • Windows XP: Click Start , click All Programs , point to HP , and then click HP Director .
  2. In the Select Device list, select your product, if it is not already selected.
  3. Click Settings , and then point to Scan Settings & Preferences .
  4. Click the scan setting menu that corresponds to the type of file you are scanning.
    • Scan picture settings : Designed for scanning pictures, including any type of non-text image, such as a drawing, logo, or photograph
    • Scan document settings : Designed for scanning documents
    • Scan preferences : Control scanning preferences, such as automatically straightening crooked images
    • Button settings and Scan to... setup : Control the defaults for the scanner buttons on the control panel of the product
    After selecting the appropriate menu, the corresponding window opens.
  5. Change settings as appropriate, and then click OK . The scan setting window closes.
  6. Click Scan Picture or Scan Document HP Director to scan with the changed settings.

Hp 1315 won't scan


Are you able to scan from the software installed in the computer:
If you have a icon saying HP Director / HP Solution center, if not go to Start> All Programs> HP And then HP DIrector / HP Solution Center and then try to scan from there if yopu are able to scan from there then go to> Settings in HP Director / Solution> Then Scan to setup> You should see a option which says Destination list> There down bellow you should see a option which says RESTORE DEFAULTS> Click on that and then apply> and close all the screens and try to scan from the All-In-One printer.

HP 9110 all in one's scanner will not work


I have a 9110 and a laptop running Windows XP and Internet Explorer 7. Prior to upgrading the IE from 6 to 7, I was able to run the HP Director and fax, scan, whatever from the laptop. After upgrading to IE 7, HP Director quit working. I contacted both Microsoft and HP and they pointed fingers at each other and said yes, upgrading to IE 7 broke the HP Director. Both said fixes were being developed, but that was months ago and I have not heard of any fixes.
I did find a workaround that allowed me to scan documents to the PC (faxing worked fine manually). Assuming the 9110 all-on-one’s drivers are still on the PC, and that the PC is connected to the 9110, go to “start, settings, control panel” and once in control panel, select “scanners and cameras”. If the drivers are still there, you should see the HP 9110 under “device”. Highlight the HP 9110 and double click. A wizard should start and it will guide you through the scanning process. If the 9110 does not appear in the “scanners and camera” box, you will need your 9110 CD and click on “add an imaging device”, which will start another wizard. It’s not as easy as using HP Director, but at least I can use the scanner. Hope this works for you.

Scanner not working


Please open HP director from Start - All programs - HP .

Click Scan document to scan.

You can scan by following steps :
For Windows XP:
To isolate the issue I suggest you to try scanning from the Windows Image acquisition(WIA) wizard on the computer.

Follow the below steps to Scan using WIA
1.Verify that the all-in-one product power is turned on and the printer cable is properly connected.

2.Click Start then Click All Programs then Click Accessories then Click Scanner and Camera Wizard.

3.Follow the Scanner and Camera Wizard instructions to scan images to the computer.

The printer will not scann to the computer


Are you able to print? I suspect so. If not your probably looking at a bad cable or corrupt windows drivers.

The director software uses it's own system to talk to the printer via scan / fax though printing is controlled by windows itself. Since scan and fax are the same function to the printer, essentially i would start by re-installing the director software.

1. Remove it via add/remove programs, don't reinstall over. It may work but you'll likely just waste time, you want all it's files gone and replaced with new ones.

2. If that has no effect remove the printer from Control Panel > Printers. Also remove the scanner device from Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager >

3. Reboot, windows doesn't really remove things till you shut it off.

4. Install the director software again, hook up the printer when asked.

Again:

If you can print at all communciation with the device is perfectly fine from a hardware perspective.

If you can fax without the computer then your scanner and such is fine from a hardwware perspective.

So your problem is simple software, either windows devices install or hp director. Both simple to remove and re-input.
