I did all of that and the message doesn't go away. I have read where I may have to resoder some parts back to the board. Do you know if anyone has a service manual or schemetics for this system?
    Thanks

I had the same problem. My reciever was working and one time when I was using it the reciever just shut down, when I tried to restart it that message came up. Since then it has not worked.

If you have speaker wires that have strands, you may be getting a short if one small strand is shorting across the terminals, or a poor connection. Check carefully, perhaps even by disconnecting and reconnecting the wires. Also check for proper polarity - positive to positive, negative to negative. (unlikely since it just started). You can also get a new set of wires and check speakers one at a time to see if it goes away. or get another speaker that works and then replace each one with that speaker in turn to see if it resolves it. Good luck

What does it mean when u push the power button and the words ''chk spkr'' flashes on the display and still wont turn on??

The system connects to speakers with a certain impedance, i.e., 8 ohms, 4 ohms, etc. If you have connected the RCA speakers there may be a bad connection or the speaker(s) may be defective

It says chk spkr when i try to turn it on how do i get it to work agaiun?

You probably have a blown channel. but check for a shorted speaker wire or bad speaker. Remove all speaker wires from the rear of the receiver if it still says check speakers when turned on, then one of the output channels is bad.

RCA rt2500 "CHK SPKR" comes on when i turn it on.

"CHK SPKR" Check Speakers. Remove all speaker wires and turn on receiver. If it still says check speakers, you have an amp that needs output transistors or possibly just soldering of an emitter resistor but thats rare.
