Question about Fortec Star Lifetime ULTRA

Fortec Innovative problem

Like others I can no longer dowload updates direct from my router - I get the message 'Network established but disconnected (98)'. I have checked Gateway and DNS are the same, have it on DHCP, in 'IP Mode' and 'Local IP', but still I can't get the thing to connect.

Can you help, please?

    Try also the following:

    0-Disable all firewalls.

1- Connect the router to your computerusing a network cable.

2- Open Start >> Connect to >> Show all connections

3- Right click on 'Local Area Connectio'n and choose properties, then scroll down and double click on 'Internet protocol TCP/IP'.

4- tick on 'use the following Ip Address' and use this address:-

    Ip Address: 192.168.0.1

    Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0

Just fill these two and leave the rest Blank, then click OK.

5- now go again to Start >> Connect to >> Show all
connections. This time right click on 'Wireless Network
    Connection' .

6- Go to 'Advanced' then tick on 'Allow other network ...' and choose 'Local Area Connection, from the list, then click OK.

7- now connect to the Internet and see if it works.

Hi, you need to connect to the router using an ethernet cable, and not in wireless mode.

If you are using wireless, that can be the cause of the problem.

Disable all firewalls on the computer you are using. Also firewalls can block the network.

If it still does not work it Depends on Fortec, in some way they are
cutting you out from the network. Ensure that you are entitled to
download codes, it looks like their server is cutting out your IP right
after you connect to the network.

First ensure that you are entitled to download codes if you are not
this can be normal, after a while they can spot and block an IP. Give
them a call to ensure it is not that your IP had been blocked.

If your account is fine, try updating receiver firmware.

Every time i put a password on my N1 Router i lose connection and get the message: The set-up in my computer does not match the set-up of the network??????

Existing connections need to be re-validated. The prompt is a general message asking you to re-enter your password (the new one) to establich a connection to your laptop. The "set-up" that no longer matches is the lod password versus the new password. The connection should be re-established once you enter the new password. All other computers connected with experience the same message.

It says that my wireless is connected, but I cannot get onto the internet

I found that drivers of the wireless card may not work with the latest drivers of the router. As was in my case. I updated my router. All good. Updated my wireless drivers on laptop, I see network but can not access it (Dell says they are still working on it). However, I could connect to other wireless connections. So it was the Dell card for sure.
Did you recently update any drivers? Maybe try rolling back. If not, maybe try updating them and the router.

Router not working at all!

Go to Control Panel- Network Connections-Network Connections and look for anything that says VPN or PPTP. Right-click on it and click disable.

Go back to your browser- click on Tools- Internet Options-Network Connection and make sure Never Dial A Connection is enabled. Click on LAN settings and make sure nothing is checked. Click OK.

Try to log back in to your router by tying in 192.168.1.1 and reconfigure the settings again.

Network problem Mac Powerbook 1.67

I am going to do two things, here.

1.Solve your problem
2.Suggest a program I highly recommend which will prevent your problem's reoccurence, though I have absolutely no financial interest in the latter, but have used it when problems like this occurred and it has proven itself to be the only way I know to properly administer a home network of up to 8 nodes with minimal difficulty.

First, the solution, since your previous addition of a router, which you removed, very likely consumed and still consumes an allocation of memory reserved for it, which your mac PB can no longer address, as it once could.

Start from scratch and rebuild your network, running whatever setup procedures established the relationship between the nodes.

Next: Google Network Magic, download the free version to try out, and if you like it, buy the program which probably currently sells for about $50.00, fully configured. There is also a Mac version which will assist your mixed network needs.

Keep getting message that cable has been disconnected..

First off, you need to update Windows.Go to where your modem is, unplug the ethernet cable from the router and connect direct to your computer, and run Windows update. You may have to reboot several times before all the updates have been implemented.

Then, the flag message you have been getting "cable disconnected" indicates to me that the flag is coming from the internal network card of your computer, not the wireless client in the computer. You need to make sure the wireless client is setup properly to see the router.

Do you know if security has been setup on the router? If so, we will need to walk down that road to get it set up on your laptop.

But first things first. Get the computer updated, and reply back answers tot he above, as well as what Operating System,s you are running.

NIC blinks on then off for longer run lines

You need to update the firmware of the router then hard reset it.

Download the router's firmware at www.linksys.com/download

After updating the firmware, you need to hard reset the router.

Press the reset button at the back of the router for 30 seconds then unplug the power for 30 secs then plug it back in. That should fix it.
