When printing several pages at a time the printer gets jamed up...

The error code 54.18 means that there was an error with black toner cartridge toner level sensor. Try taking the cartridge out and shake it a little to loosen up the toner inside, make sure all of the cartridge metal electrical contacts are clean and try it again. If it still has a problem you should try a new black toner cartridge. If that doesn't change things then you may need to replace the DC controller.

There are several solutions to this problem.

Solution 1:

1. Press and hold "left arrow" key
2. Press the "setup" key and release both keys
3. Press and release the "OK" button
4. Press and release the right arrow button until the display says "System Configuration Menu". 2. Press and release the "OK" button.
5. Display should say "Hardware failure status". If not there already, Arrow Key over to "Hardware failure status",
6. Press and release the "OK" button.
7. Display should say "Hardware failure status: Clear. Press OK to clear".
8. Press and release the "OK" Button. Message changes to "Hardware failure status Cleared. Press Cancel to continue".

12. Turn the unit on. The printer may display message "USE POWER BUTTON TO SHUTDOWN THE PRINTER" followed by "PRESS OK TO CONTINUE". Press OK.
13. If the printer has already initialized, then go to the next step. If not, the printer will start the "ONE TIME INK INITIALIZATION PROCESS". Allow this process to complete and do not interrupt. Once the initialization process is complete, the printer will print out a Diagnostic Page.
14. To verify printer functionality print a SELF TEST PAGE. If SELF TEST prints, then printer is ready for use or Software Installation.
15. If the error is still there, or reoccurs the printer is already defective.

Solution 2:


  1. Press the On button to turn the printer off.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
  3. Remove all the ink cartridges.
  4. Wait two minutes.
  5. Plug the power cord into the back of the printer.
  6. Press the On button to turn the printer on.
  7. Install the ink cartridges when prompted.

Solution 1:

1. Press and hold "left arrow" key

My Brother HL1230 printer prints with whole lines of text missing several times on a page and gets worse by missing more lines if printing several pages. It has a new toner cartridge. How can I sort this...


I have a brother MFC 3240C. My Black ink stopped printing(initially printed horizontal faded lines and gradually got worse), the other colors were printing fine. I tried cleaning numerous time( 50 -100 times over 1-2 weeks ). Still no improvement. The way I print now is:
1. I go to Printer Properties
2. Change Media type from "Plain Paper" to "Inkjet Paper".
3. Change Quality to "Photo".

This takes a long time to print 1-2 minutes per page. However, this works for me since this is my Home printer and use it for printing only few pages here are there.

1. We Jam [arrow To the left], afterwards press the button "Adjustment (Setup)", afterwards release - appears the menu "Enter Special Key Combo".
It Is Recommended, but me this did not be necessary: Jam both buttons "Seal photo (Print Photos)" and "Correction to photographies (Red Eye Removal)", afterwards release them. Hereon press and release by turns "Correction to photographies (Red Eye Removal)", "Seal photo (Print Photos)", "Correction to photographies (Red Eye Removal)".
2. Now we press [arrow To the right] until we shall move to point "System Configuration".
3. We Press OK.
4. We Press [arrow To the right] until we shall get to "Hardware failure status: Clear. Press OK to clear". If beside You printer works orderly, that this point in menu not will. It is Important: not to print hereon!
5. We Switch off the printer, include once again.

HOW DO DELETE FOUND NEW HARDWARE WIZARD


OK I had theHP PHOTOSMART C4400 any error code problem and here is the conversation I had with the tech...

I have a HP photosmart C7280 all in one, when you scan or copy the page comes out solid black even a scan to the computer scans in black


Test pls a lamp of scaner. Reinstall thedriver. Test a cord. Change a driver. Test the scaner? What does the unit of scaner mooving?

Ink System Failure


I just had this problem with a HP C5150 and I found this bit of conversation on the web and it worked for me.

My error code was 0xc18a0501 and the following steps did resolve my issue, hope it helps you as well.
