DVD rom For some reason, my dvd rom isn't showing under my computer. When I enter the setup option while booting, it is showing. I was told I need a new drive, so i purchased a new DVD rom, and it is doing the same thing. I need to restore my computer, but can not do so with out a cd drive.

    Well I was told it is probably with my mother board where my cd rom is plugged in to it. I am checking on getting a new motherboard now.

    How can i boot my dell studio from cdrom so i can reinsall from external drive?

    Turn on the machine, press F12 once the Dell splash screen is displayed, the boot menu will show up. From the Boot Menu, use up-down arrow keys on the keyboard and highlight the CD/DVD/CD-RW and press Enter.You will see another menu, select "Boot from Cd-Rom" and press enter to select it. The system will boot up from the CD-Rom. Please note that this settings is only for one time boot, once the system is restarted, the boot sequence will be restored to the previous saved settings. If you wish to set it from the Bios, enter the Bios settings by hitting F2 or Delete (should be shown at the bottom of the Dell splash screen) while you see the Dell Splash Screen. In the Bios settings menu, go to Boot options and make the changes with the boot sequence.

    Good Luck.

    Restart your computer.
    Press <DEL> to enter BIOS SETUP.
    Look for "Boot" options, and change the "Boot Order" to make the CD/DVD the _first_ boot-device.
    Save/Exit from BIOS SETUP.

    My laptop doesn't boot my windows 7 DVD please help me

    This problem can be happen if DVD ROM of laptop is not working or BIOS setting is not set for booting from DVD drive. If DVD ROM is not working then change it. Go to BIOS setting and choose first boot device as DVD ROM if it is BIOS setting problem. This can solve your problem. It is always good to buy licensed copy of OS and other software.

    Thank you..

    Rebooting

    Hello! am Fabian,
    problem.
    when i turned the computer on it tells me windows did not start successfully. it wont ...

    solution.
    to solve this problem you need at list the operating system installation CDs/DVDs and a pair of screw drivers.
    using the screw drivers, open the system and carefully unistall any or all newly installed hardware device. try to boot again, if the system boots correctly, you may need to consult the manufacturers of the new hardwares you just unistalled for installation guide. but if this does not solve your problem you will need to boot your system using the operating system installation CD/DVD. all you need do is;
    1. access your systems BIOs setup utility program by pressing the "Del", "F1","F2" or "F10" as the case may be. select its advance option and set its boot sequence/priority to boot from CD/DVD first then save the setting and exit.
    2. insert the operating system CD/DVD ROM, when the system prompts to boot from the CD/DVD ROM press any key and wait to allow the setup initialisation process to complete. once complete, the system show 3 options from which you press the "R" key and wait next it prompt you to mount onto your WINDOWS installation simply press "1" and press the "Enter" key then enter your password if any and also press the "Enter" key.
    3. on the command prompt enter the following command;
    chkdsk /p then press the"Enter" key wait for the process to complete then restart your computer.

    if the problem persist you will need to reinstall your operating system. visit microsoft website for detailed installation guide.

    i hope this information will help.
    thanks.
