Good Day;

Try resetting TV by unplugging TV from power source (A/C), for 2 to 5 minutes, then plug back in. Also do same to "BOX" if you are using such device.

If not go into 'Menu' to the Audio area and make sure speakers are "ON".

Good Luck, big IRISH.

The picture works but the audio sound does not.Could this be due to the set been connected to virgin tv media and the remote has something to do with the problem, is there any manual way to obtain audio on...

first check the speaker setting in the menu see if the speaker is selected ON. if the speaker is on then check the SAP function of the set. check this with the remote with the MTS button on the remote. keep hitting the button untill the word stereo appears.

My magnavox tv is making a buzzing sound, no picture, and wont change channels (just a dark screen)

Something has shorted in the set causing the power supply to make that buzzing sound. Most likely the short is in the horizontal circuit. The horizontal makes the high voltage work which in turn lights the picture tube.

No sound for cable connection but through dvd, there is sound

Since the set will give sound from a DVD, at least the TV's audio amplifier is working. I'm ready to say you have a bad tuner, but I'm not absolutely certain. There may be trouble in the TV's audio processing stages. Or you could have something set wrong.

First, check the TV settings to be sure you have it set for the right tuning system and that the audio is set for normal. If the settings are right, try tuning in something besides the cable. If you have a VCR with RF output (that is, one that outputs on channel 3 or 4), hook that up and check for normal sound on that channel. If there is still no sound, your TV is at fault and would need service.

No sound - Great picture

Sounds like something in the sound output quit. If this is a very old set, it might be time to part ways with it.

TV has power, but picture or sound will not come on.

It sounds like something in the set has failed. These newer TV's have shut down circuits that won't let the set come on if there is a short or excessive voltage somewhere in the set. Most failures in TV's occur at the moment the set is turned on.

No picture

Can you repeatedly get the picture to come back when you push on the back of the set? If so, yes, its sounds like a bad connection.

What happens when you use the tuner of the TV and with it connected to cable? Do you get a picture?

No picture and no sound,

Something shorted and shut your set down. Most likely the high voltage transformer shorted which also shorted the horizontal output transistor. Stargazer

Picture and Sound

You must have broken something loose in you set. Maybe cracked a circuit board. You need to have it checked out by a technician. Stargazer

Picture went black

The good thing is you see something in the screen, with age the set has developed loose conections in a few different places,my suggesion is to call professional for service now and the repair will not as expensive,if the picture quality is good is worth it.
