You can do that but your subs will have to be monsters or you will blow them out as bridged mode will drive 2400 watts RMS into 4 ohms. Many speakers are rated in peak or program power... these are FAKE specifications. with this amp in bridged mode each of two identical speakers would have to be rated at 2400 watts program or about 3600 watts peak each to survive... When rating speakers and amps ALWAYS compare RMS values... and for safety use an amp of 80% of the RMS rating of the connected speaker or speaker system.

How do I wire up my 4subs in bridged to my peace 2600

Hi,

Please state the subs impedance, but assuming 4 subs with 8Ohm Voice Coil you CAN'T run them in parallel in Bridge Mono because this amp's minimum impedance is 4Ohm in bridge and 2Ohm stereo, maybe a series/parallel connection work, but what's the advantage to run them in Bridge mode? This amp delivers 900W per channel at 4Ohm, you can run a pair paralleled for each channel in a safe way and without the high-risk of your amp being destroyed, besides, amp power at 4Ohm Bridged is NOT recommended for continuous use, let me know your results...

impedances. The "HZ" suffix is intended
to state the amplifier has a relatively high
impedance output and is optimized for no
lower than four-Ohm loads. Are you strapping in Bridged or Stereo Mode? Bridged Mono Operation
Both amplifier channels can be bridged together to make a very powerful single-channel monaural amplifier. Use
extreme caution when operating in the bridged mode; potentially lethal voltage may be present at the output
terminals. To bridge the amplifier, depress the rear panel Bridge switch to the IN position. Direct the signal to channel
A's input and connect the speakers across the hot outputs (the "+" binding posts) of channels A and B. Only channel
A's input attenuator is active while in Bridge Mono mode. Both connectors are strapped together, so either connector
can be used with a patch cable to drive the input of another amplifier.
Unlike the stereo mode, in which one side of each output is at ground, both sides are hot in bridged mode. Channel A's
side is the same polarity as its input with the minimum nominal load impedance being 4 ohms (equivalent to driving
both channels at 2 ohms) in bridged mode. Driving bridged loads of less than 4 ohms will activate the DDT
circuitry, resulting in a loss of power, and may also cause a thermal (overheating) overload.
Therefore, check the impedance of the cabs for each mode. Remember, if you connect two individual speakers in Parallel (+ to + and - to -) you cut the impedance in half. Two 8 ohm speakers in parallel now have a load of 4 ohms. Series connection + to - to + to -, will double the impedance. Two 8 ohm speakers will have a load of 16 ohms.
I have actually taken a two speaker cab with a 4 ohm impedance and opened up the back to re-do the wiring. I rechecked the impedance with a ohm meter. So yes, be careful. Whatever you do, keep the speaker lengths as short as possible. Buy really good speaker wire or if you make your own, go with 10 gauge wire.

I have a pair of Behringer B1800x-pro subs that I am hoping to power with my EP4000. Would it be best to run one per channel or would it be better to run them in series with the amp bridged?

Run one per channel... DO NOT forget to use an electronic crossover feeding the amps as the speakers are rated only up to 300HZ so you need a low pass feeding these or you may burn them up. Some people are using the DriveRack crossover module for example to prevent sending highs to the subs and smoking them.

More than likely you have lost the speakers... You sent TOO much power to them and likely the voice coils have heated and distorted and are rubbing the pole pieces and hanging up on them. If the voice coils now short some of the windings, next you will lose your amps as well. If you can access the cones, you can try gently moving them in and out with your fingers and you can feel the voice coils rubbing sometimes. REMEMBER ALWAYS check the RMS rating of the speakers against the RMS ratings of the amps... DO NOT fall for the "advertising" things of "peak power" and "program power" ratings... these numbers are to sell equipment... Use RMS continuous ratings when sizing amps to speakers. Typically the RMS continuous ratings are 1/3 of the peak or 1/2 of the program ratings. You will find amplifiers rated either way so you have to dig out the real ratings. In bridged mode the full output of both halves of the amp work together. Your speakers are rated at 1600 Watts continuous... I am not sure I believe that number even... you would be deaf in front of that quickly... Your amps appear to deliver 5000 Watts RMS in bridged mode... over three times what the speaker is rated at. Since you have the amps, set one aside and run each speaker from one side of a single amp NOT using full gain AFTER you get the speakers re-coned. I would recommend putting a fuse in the speaker lead to HELP protect the speakers when repaired.

MAKE SURE the cables you plug into 1/4 inch mains are TRS plugs, and not mono cables (TS). The main output 1/4 inch jacks are TRS balanced outputs and if you plug mono (TS) cables that shorts out the ring connector reducing the power by 6 Db. USE ONLY TRS balanced cables for interconnects !!!! Also read my tip on Fixya regarding PMP mixers. If you use 1/4 inch SPEAKER cables or adapters, if you short the SLEEVE of channel A output to ground you can pop the channel A amp. The TIP of channel B is the hot BUT the SLEEVE of channel A is the HOT. The ttip I posted explains why this is and it isn't mention in the Behringer documentation.

How do you switch the behringer 3000 to bridged mode,what settings do you use to get 1200 watts out of it.

Well... you probably won't like this, but here is some info: In bridged mode, a different Speakon to speaker cable is required from only the B... it is wired differently and you can only use one of the plugs. The speaker or speaker system CANNOT be less than 8 ohms in bridged mode... this precludes using speakers in parallel or multiple speakers that are less than 16 ohm impedance... such speakers are NOT commonly available as most are either 4 or 8 ohm. There is a slide switch for bridged mode on the face of the mixer. Next thing you won't like... The 1200 Watts specification is PEAK power, NOT RMS... You can get 400 watts RMS per side USING 4 ohm speakers. If you use 8 ohm speakers, each of those will get 200 watts. I use this mixer myself and ALSO repair them. The voltage swing at the outputs is about +/-60 volts MAX (peak). This is about 40 volts RMS by the time the circuit LOSSES are taken into account. Across a 4 ohm speaker you get 10 amps times the 40 volts or 400 watts. Across an 8 ohm you get 5 amps or 200 watts. The voltage rails in the switching amp are +/-70 volts DC so these are reasonable values. Bridged mode just uses both sides of the amp driven in opposite directions for higher voltage out BUT you have to use no less than a single 8 ohm speaker so there is NO advantage to bridged mode power wise. IF YOU NEED more power, use extra speakers from an additonal amp driven by the 1/4 TRS mains output jacks OR use additonal POWERED speakers driven from the same jacks. Please read my tip about the hazard regarding the SLEEVE of the cahnnel A cable when using Speakon to 1/4 plug cables being the HOT and the tip being the cold for channel A. Ground the sleeve accidentally and goodbye channel A amp...

I accidentally used the two outs (A & B) at turning on the pmp 5000 in the bridge mode. The mixer was normal during the first 10 minutes, then the mixer shut down and stop working, and now it doesn't...

Insufficient information ! Were you using a special cable used for bridged mode or used regular cables and just changed the slide switch to bridged mode? IF you had regular cables for A/B and just had the switch to the bridged mode NO DAMAGE WOULD RESULT. The bridged mode switch really only sets both amps to be driven from the same mixing buss as monaural. If you had a bridged cable and a plain one you would have overloaded one side amp. The amps have an "electronic" over current fuse and if you trip it you have to leave the power off for a minute or so and then re-power the amp. There is a HAZARD that I have written a tip in Fixya about PMP mixers. The sleeve of a 1/4 inch plug connected to side A is the HOT signal out of the amp as opposed to the B channel being the tip of the 1/4 inch plug...this assumes you might be using Speakon to 1/4 inch speaker cables. DO NOT under any circumstances use Speakon to 1/4 inch adapter cables as the barrel of the adapter female part on channel A is HOT to ground and you will pop the A amp.!!!! I am afraid that if you were using regular cables taht another failure occurred not related to the setting to bridged mode. The speaker leads for bridged mode are configured by the way the special bridged mode Speakon cable is wired... The slide switch only configures where the amps get there audio be it stereo busses or singly from one side. If after being off for a few minutes the amp still is totally dead, check the main power fuse which is alongside the power input connection in a plastic boat you pull out. IF THE FUSE IS BLOWN do NOT replace it as it will likely cause additional damage. Have unit repaired. There is a weak spot in these that results in arcing between layers of a multi-layer circuit board.

We just got a PMP6000 and this has to be the worst manual ever written. Not a word about bridge mode except that it has one. Do I have to rewire a speaker cable or what? Which fader would control the...

Yes, in bridge mode you will wire ONE Speakon that will have the two speaker wires connected to pins "1+" and "2+". You do NOT need the manual to do this, the info is right on the back of the PMP6000 itself. You will plug that Speakon into channel "B".

PLEASE note that you CANNOT go below 8 ohm speaker impedance. If your speakers are 4 ohm you MUST connect two in SERIES which requires special cables and the speakers MUST be identical. You can connect TWO 16 ohm speakers in parallel by daisy chaining, however 16 ohm speakers are NOT very common. With 8 ohm speakers you can connect EXACTLY one in bridged mode UNLESS you connect four of them in series-parallel which requires special cables and great care. Believe me you do NOT want to have an accident with this amp as repairing is extensive.

Lastly, put the speaker configuration switch down to the bridged mode.

This is how bridged mode works: Sliding the switch down basically configures the two power amps in monaural and one amp is inverted so there outputs are out of phase by 180 degrees effectively doubling the voltage.

Remember that BOTH wires in bridged mode are HOT and grounding one while amp is on will likely blow out one side or more.

Hello, What is the proper way to connect an Ashly XR1000 Crossover and a Pyle Pro PTA1400 power amp to my Peavey XR8600 so I can use 2 subs? The subs are not powered, but do have a passive crossover...

Here is a link to the manual:http://www.peavey.com/assets/literature/manuals/00513220_7.pdf I didn't look at the manual for the crossover but this is probably the way I would do it. Look at page 13 in the manual : Come out of the Main out (31 in the diagram) into the main in of your crossover. Go out of your crossover Hi and Mid out setting back into Power amp In 1 (labelled 32 in the diagram). Hook your speakers that you normally use to the output jacks on the back of the Peavey. Make sure you match the output impedances. Go out of your crossover low output into the Pyle power amp and out of the Pyle into your subs. Make sure the impedance ratings of all your speakers match the output impedances of your amps. You will only be running in Mono mode as that is the signal output of the Peavey mixer. You can run faux stereo by using the Main monitor Out as 1/2 the pair and the Main Out as the other 1/2 to both channels of the crossover but you won't be getting a true stereo pan mode.
