How to reset Windows Server 2008 domain password

Windows Server 2008 is one of Microsoft Windows' server line of operating systems. Besides Windows 7.Windows Server 2008 are the latest and more secured versions from Microsoft. Windows Server 2008 has many new features included that system administrators of small and large companies will enjoy. <br /> <br /> Many use Windows 2008 server as a workstation. That means A group of computers and devices on a network that are administered as a unit with common rules and procedures. And the host computer manage these computers through its admin account and password.<br /> <br /> If you have lost windows 2008 server local admin password, I think it is easy for you to recover the password. But what if you have lost windows domain password? Things will get more tricky and all of the computers in the domain paralyze. These passwords also called AD password. Before solving your password problem, you need to know what is Active Directory Domain Controller.<br /> <br /> <b>What is Active Directory Domain Controller?</b><br /> <br />A domain controller is a server that is running a version of the Windows Server operating system and has Active Directory Domain Services installed.<br /> <br /> When you install Windows Server on a computer, you can choose to configure a specific server role for that computer. When you want to create a new forest, a new domain, or an additional domain controller in an existing domain, you configure the server with the role of domain controller by installing Active Directory Domain Controller (AD DS).<br /> <br /> There is the diffence bettwen Domain and local. A Windows Server domain is a logical group of computers running versions of the Microsoft Windows operating system that share a central directory database. A user may be granted access to a number of computer resources with the use of a single username and password combination.<br /> <br /> A Domain Controller allows password authentication throughout a network. What this means is that your password is checked on the central server no matter which machine you log in from. A Domain Controller can also control access to files and directories which can be setup so users have access to all their files no matter which machine they log in from. This also makes adding and removing users among other things much easier as all that is required is a change on the Domain Controller itself rather than every machine on a network.<br /> <br />If you have lost this domain administrator password (also called AD password), it will be a tricky thing. However, Windows Password Key Enterprise can allow you to reset domain administrator password.<br /> Here is the steps to reset Windows server domain password<br /> <br /> Step 1: Download and install Windows Password Key Enterprise in any available computer.<br /> <img src="shalakate.jpg" /> Step 2: Run the software and insert a blank CD or USB Flash Drive to computer.<br /> Step 3: Select Domain Administrator and choose CD/DVD or USB Flash Drive<br /> Step 4: Click Burn to begin bootable disk creation.<br /> Step 5: Insert the newly created CD/USB Flash Drive to your locked computer , but remember you need to set the bios setup , make sure the computer to boot from CD or USB.<br />If you don't know how to set BIOS, take a look this tutorial.<br /> <a href="http://www.lostwindowspassword.com/how_it_works/bios_setting_for_cd.htm">http://www.lostwindowspassword.com/how_it_works/bios_setting_for_cd.htm</a><br /> <br />Step 6: And then you can recover your Domain admin password<br /> <br />Now you can log on your domain admin account and reset a new password.<br />Note: This can also work in Windows Server 2000,2003 <br /> cc

Automatically create an Update Virus Defintions CD for Norton Ghost v12.0 and...

Got Symantec GHOST12 (bootable CD) + NAV2008 (non-Bootable) with a valid serial number and want a method to scan your PC for Virus with the latest Virus Defintions but you don't have NAV2008 installed because your ISP gived you a free Virus Suite then read on.

I have created this semi-automatic method to create a virus CD that will work with the Scan for Virus option on the Ghost Boot CD simply replace the Ghost CD with the one this creates and select browse usually for D: drive you will see your CD-ROM access light action as the Ghost loaded on Ram disk updates itself.

Download link for the Norton Ghost definitions Updater is HERE you need to join my group on facebook @windowstipsclub.com to request the password to unzip as this was originally posted there first, though you FixYa's might like it too plus there are other great tips and tricks. The download link for my Norton AV2008 definitions install CD is HERE on my rapidshare due to a 50MB upload limit on my Sky Drive.

You may also need to enable Windows Scripting Hosts do this using THIS from my Sky Drive to enable the VBS script to run at the start of both autoupdaters.

CreateUpdateVirusCD.bat - Will download the latest i32 definitions file and then action the full unzip ISO and burn in one go if you already have the ISO created then you can run the file below. first it will allow you to run a vbs script to clean then temp files Ihave found this to be required on some systems before the downloadsucks in the latest i32 definition file from the FTP server it willthen unzip it and create a Update Locator Virus Definition folder on your desktop similar to the UPDTLCTR.EXE function that is bundled with the Ghost CD (this only works if you have NAV2008 pre-installed and can't create the folder otherwise)

makecd4defs32.bat - will create an ISO from the Desktop Folder and burn the CD for you using mkisofs.exe and parts of the CYGWIN dll's this will burn the ISO to your CD/DVD burner it is set to default scsibus1 (dev=1,0,0) if your burner is on a different channel then you can run scanbus note the number and edit the listmem32.awk by altering the numbers shown in bold and saving the changes, if your drive is on scscibus2 then change to 2,0,0 and so on...

print "cdrecord speed=0 -dev=1,0,0 -dao -v Virusdef.iso" >> "dumpit.bat"

a15e609.jpg

In the case of this scanbus the CDRW is located on scsibus1 but connected at 1,1,0 so change the line to read.

print "cdrecord speed=0 -dev=1,1,0 -dao -v Virusdef.iso" >> "dumpit.bat"

Norton Ghost v12.0 ( includes defintions no later than 2007)
Norton Ghost v14.0 ( includes defintions no later than 2008)

At time of posting the latest intelligent updater defintions file is 20091202-006-i32.exe which includes definitions not later than 2/12/2009 this can now be used in conjunction with your Bootable Ghost CD to give your PC an up-to-date scan using the latest protection

Last note you will have to create the desktop file if you have not tried to run the original update file from the Ghost CD otherwise the script will fail feel free to add these line to the script if you wish that is if you can get the mkdir command to create the Update Locator Virus Defintions folder.

I accidently saved a file over an existing file, how do I recover that old file. there are two issues, it is an Adobe file and it is on my company's server, which might not allow me to down load recovery...

Contact your company's I T support group and ask if they can restore the original file from a backup. As long as the file was saved to a location that is part of the daily backup, they should be able to get it back for you.

When I try to renew my norton antivirus it says the file is too big for aol to open

Are you downloading a new version? If so, when the download window comes up, select "Save" instead of "Open". When the Save window opens up, save it to your desktop or other location that you can locate it when it has completed downloading. After the download, find the file and run it.

BTW, if you are installing a new version, make sure you uninstall the old Norton before installing the new. This is best accomplished by running the Norton Removal Tool located at:

I am trying to install Norton 360 2.0 and a screen has popped up saying. 'The file 'SymIMV.sys' on Symantec Network Seciruty Intermediate Filter Driver isneeded. Type the path where the file is located,...

if you are installing it from disk check that the disk is free from dirt/dust and scratches this could cause files to be read as corrupt because they cannot be read properly.

QB Ed 2008, When I

Error -6177 means that the file is not accessible at the location QuickBooks is trying to open it.

The reasons for this may be:
1. The network is offline. Make sure that the directory is available or that you're still connected to the network.
2. The file was deleted by someone else available on the network.
3. If you have recently updated Quickbooks from an earlier version, then the cause may be a bug with the product itself. It has been reported by other users that they experience Error 6177 everytime they try to open a previously existing file.

Try the following link. Might help:
