Hi dyadav00
Scan your pc again . Eventually with another software .
Make sure your Atapi.sys is no more infected . Reinstall Windows with full formatting option .
Try a firmware update of your drive : http://forum.lgsoftwareinnovations.com/archive/index.php?t-22384.html .
Disconnect the drive inside your pc for 5 minutes and reconnect it again .
Best regards ,
fanaudi .
Hi fanaudi..
Thanks for replying. Actually since Atapi.sys got infected and got deleted, I have installed fresh copy of XP, changed the hard disk, but situation remains the same. Windows is recognizing device but it is not reading any DVD or CD. I have also tried upgrading the firmware but of no avail. My device is only 2 yrs old.
Hello again dyadav00 . Could you test your drive on some other computer to make sure it's the drive and not your computer having issues ? If the drive still doesn't run , i'm afraid you'll have to replace it , since repairs costs won't worth the money spent , i presume . Otherwise we will have to check what's still wrong with your computer . But keep hope ! fanaudi .

Dyadav00:
a few things..have you reinstalled any updates for Windows XP? any of them might fix the problem. also...try this...go to Control Panel, then Device Manager, and find your DVD drive in the list...you might have to click on the + sign to see your drive...right click on the name, and click disable...click ok through the prompts, and restart your PC. Now, go back to Device Manager, repeat this, but click Enable, and XP should reinstall drivers for your DVD burner. Hopefully, this helps things. Best of Luck!
hi fishboy
thanks for replying.. i have tried many things and also that you have suggested and nothing working. Is there any way to reset the device to factory standards. I have also tried upgrading firmware but that is not helping.
Thanx
OK, try and turn off your PC, unplug the power cord in the back of the PC (remember which one this is, being that there are a ton of cables involved in PCs) now, open up your case (usually you will need a Phillips head screwdriver, or sometimes manufacturers will just leave a thumbscrew that doesnt necessarily require a screwdriver. Look inside your PC...towards the front you should see your drives. The thicker one should be your DVD drive. on the back of it is a white plastic plug. Very carefully pull the plug from the back of the DVD drive. Now, leave the case open, plug the power cord in, and restart the system. Let Windows start and then shut down again. Unplug the power cord to the PC again, and put the plug you pulled out of your DVD drive (again carefully) back in your DVD drive. Plug the power cord back into your PC, and restart it, see if Windows locates the drive. Best of Luck.
